Forums - Gaming - Xbox isn't an gaming console

But I swore i saw him back at the launch saying it was the "ultimate gaming machine".

BTW if you live in the UK and care to see it, check out BBC's "Click" onLine on iPlayer.

It was funny seeing old Steve trying to explain why Windows 7 tablets all have a builtin keyboard and Apple's and Androids don't. I am sure he said it was "more that just a tablet, it is a laptop" even though the keyboard adds weight and make it bulkier.

Gotta love the guy.

what they should be saying is that "the xbox is not only an gaming console but an family entertainment machine as well"

But this is like you buy an console that was reguard as the adult hardcore machine only for an few years down the track the company going okay lets turn it into an family freindly device. While it may offer the hardcore stuff you would want the company to focus mainly on the hardcore stuff, because thats what you bought the machine for.

It SONY was to turn around and say, Well the PS3 plays High Def games but from now on its SD all the way. You would feel ripped and should of brought an wii instead.

I bought my DVD player to play adult content. I didn't get pissed off when I found out they also released casual crap like 'movies' on DVD as well. You can apply the same to the people who own Xbox 360s. Besides this, the companies don't serve individuals they serve markets. If your tastes are too crappy and niche you should have no expectation that any content will be released to cater to them.

WTF has Sony doing something completely illogical have to do with anything? Sony is so fat I doubt they could even turn around.

You know i am not ripping the xbox, i am supporting the hardcore gamers who bought the xbox to play hardcore games but it seems ms is starting to forget about them.

At least sony is caring about the user base that originally bought there content by using there resources to produce content they want.

Now What MS should of done is expanded there 1st party studios and got contracts to produce exclusives for the first half of 2011 which they have failed at doing. At least they have the second half of the year to make up. I believe MS is failing on creating an balance between core and causal titles.

And some might say "oh its only the start of the year"

well MS still should of at least announced some core exclusives at the end of last year for early this year but it seems they haven't done in core exclusives so that means they have none

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

My response In order from top to bottom of bolded quotes:

1)That certainly isn't the case as of now, so I assume you must be trying to predict the future. Meaning you don't know this yet.

2)That's what I said, and it's true.

3)Again, you don't know that yet.

Your argument relies on too much assumption.

What the hell are some of you on about.  Kinect has JUST launched. It is pretty normal for Microsoft to push it the way they do. What more, it's an unprecedented success. I don't see why they shouldn't try to push it even more.

People are calling doom and gloom for 360 core gamers, just because Microsoft is playing its game right with Kinect right now. As far as I know, the flow of exclusive games on the 360 has never been huge. I don't see how anything changed so far. Funny thing is, many of you complain about the lack of exclusive announcements for 2011 yet most of you still haven't got the exclusive gem that is Alan Wake. ¬_¬

Fuckin' make up your mind.

And, just to inquire, when exactly is the next exclusive Kinect game coming out?  Ahh, must be Brain & Body Connection.

I don't give a crap about hardcore gamers. Microsoft doesn't either. They are running a business not trying to keep some whiny minority happy with lots of hardcore 'true exclusives'. They have no obligation to make hardcore games themselves, there are plenty coming from 3rd parties to please that part of the market.

Tease.

No, it's a HOT DOG VENDING MACHINE!

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Did balmer say that the 360 was the only console where you are the controller?

He sure doesn't know his competition well.
