Forums - PC - So I bought DC Universe Online

This is a PS3 game and Twesterm is EXTREMELY positive about it.  I'm sold.

I actually come from EQ, EQ II (though not much at all), FFXI, WoW, City of Villains, and FFXIV and I must say I love this game.  It's a completely different experience than all of those except City of Villains and it's refreshing.  It does play more like an action game but that's why it will succeed.  If it did what any other MMO did and try to be WoW, it would fail.

It's an action MMO that's of actual quality.  What is there to be negative about?

It's not without it's problems (PS3 and PC players can't play together, the chat functions are lacking) but it's a pretty strong game.

This is dissapointing.  I thought you can play between servers like Final Fantasy XI.  Oh well.

Well, I do play it on the PC and I heard the PS3 version wasn't nearly as good.

Better?

Yeah, it kind of sucks.  To make it even worse, if you own the PC version and want to play it on the PS3 (or vice versa), you have to pay a second monthly subscription fee.

WTF Sony?  Well there goes the idea I had about trying to get people to play this between PS3 and PC users.

im really happy with it its alot of fun i look at my watch at 8 then look at it again its 2 in the morning theres just afew things i dont know how to do like changing worlds not PvP to PvE but going from world 1 to world 5 or whatever

I played some more tonight and I'm liking this game more and more even though tonight was generally a bad night for my poor villain Defenestration.

My friend and I were minding our own business questing and just doing our thing.  We started the night nearly through with level 7 and ended up barely into level 9.  Why did we get almost nowhere in the three or so hours we played?  Because bastards 20 levels higher than us camping the newbie areas.

Let's get this straight-- I like PvP.  I like the idea of having to watch my back and even having all out brawls with other players.  It's a fun experience.  What isn't fun is when 10 level 25-30 (max level) come to the newbie areas and spend all night camping the zone.  It just sucked.  There was a group camping the respawn points and another group camping the popular quest areas.

My friend and I spent hours trying to do a single quest but couldn't get anything done.  We were completely at their mercy and they were complete asshats so we were just fucked.

Like I said, I like the idea of PvP, I just think there should be something to keep the upper level players from camping the newbie zone.  I'm still trying to get to know the game and I just can't do that when some max level schmuck is going out of their way to ruin my game.

So we finally finished the quest and we were both fed up and frustrated and quit for the night.

Now, while playing, I wasn't really satisfied at all with my character and decided to make another character.  A hero this time and in another city.   My villain had The Joker mentor so I decided to do a hero with a Superman mentor.  My villain was Ice/Hand Blast so my hero is Fire/Duel Wield.  It seemed like a pretty good opposite.

I leveled her (Phoenicia, couldn't use Phoenix) and even though the earlier evening was bad, I actually had a blast and get her to level 7.  I love her power set and she does in fact look pretty cool.

I had a bad experience with asshats earlier but still had a great time later.  Now I'm just wondering what to do with my villain since I really don't like his powers.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and call this game a hit.  I just tried Walmart and Gamestop and it's totally sold out (except for one copy of collector's edition at GS).  I'm gonna try to buy it at KMart and then I'm giving up and going home.  I'm shocked!

I've been playing since launch as a villian and am currently level 15 and so far I love it!  There's so much content and they've used the DC license to its full extent.  I for sure am gonna play till at least I have a max level villian as well as a max level Hero.

Also I agree that I think its biggest strength is that it feels so different to other MMO's.  It really is a unique and awesome Comic Book hero experience.

The gameplay is completely different and much more refreshing then WoWs. Every other mmos plays like WoW. This one is in a league of it's own....hehe

What customer service issues have you noticed?

Also, in terms of waiting a couple of weeks before trying it out, servers were full a few minutes ago in NA even after adding a few more last week.

No, it isn't. It's competing with Champions Online and City of Heroes/Villains.

i think you misapprehended what he was saying. well done.
