Greg bemoaned at the lack of exclusives on the PS3 in the last half of 2010 and the dissapointment of GT5 while Hilary moaned about Medal of Honour (WTF) and XBL getting worse?! I thought the complaints were misplaced. PS3 while not getting as many exclusives in the second half of the year could still rely on some fantastic third party games. Just because a game is exclusive doesn't mean it's any good, in fact some of the best games of 2010 were third party. Maybe Sony should've spaced out the exclusives better. Now onto the 360.....no mention at the lack of exclusives? How could Hilary have overlooked this number one problem?! And when I mean exclusives I don't just mean console or timed exclusive or better versions of third party games. That is the number one issue for the 360 right now as far as being a hardcore gamer goes. But judging by the two articles I think it's very telling at the current state the consoles find themselves in. 360 is heading in the Wii direction and doing it very well while the PS3 is going all out for the hardcore market in 2011. I think tactically Sony are doing well but stratigically I'm going to give my vote to MS. I'm just glad to own both consoles. |
You contradict yourself enormously.
You berate the PS3 critic, saying that non-exclusive games are still good games. Then you turn around and say that the Xbox 360 critic should have mentioned the lack of Xbox 360 supposed true exclusives, because clearly, console exclusives are not good games that help define a platform.
So, yeah.
starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Someone else pointed out the same thing and I've already explained myself in previous posts if you can be bothered to check. Exclusives are not an issue on the PS3. They are on the 360.

I guess you'd have to pay...
Anyway it shows one thing which is how wide the game market it once you step outside the console realm.

Atelier Rorona - 65 Meta 3D Dot Game Heroes - 78 Meta Sly Collection - 85 Meta Heavy Rain - 87 Meta God of War 3 - 92 Meta MAG - 76 Meta Gran Turismo 5 - 84 Meta Sports Champions - 76 Meta MLB 10 The Show - 91 Meta Trinity Universe - 62 Meta Last Rebellion - 44 Meta Yakuza 3 - 80 Meta EyePet (Move Edition) - 71 Meta The Fight - 48 Meta Time Crisis Razing Storm - 58 Meta Mod Nation Racers - 82 Meta Singstar Dance - 65 Meta White Knight Chronicles - 64 Meta The Shoot - 60 Meta Kung Fu Rider -36 Meta Start The Party - 55 Meta TV Superstars - 56 Meta
(22) retail exclusives in 12 months. Just about 2 exclusives per month. (10) of them scored 75 or above and (11) scored 70 or above. (7) at 80 or above and (2) at 90 or above. (16) of the (22) scored 60 or above. Lack of exclusives was not the problem. The problem was that the variety was so varied to the point where only a handful appealed to Greg Miller and if he didn't like them they simply didn't exist. MLB The Show is one of those examples since almost every year it scores 85 or higher and the last 2 years it scored over a 90% yet it is always omitted.
They need to do their jobs correctly and realize that all games count whether they liked them or not. |
Its the US version of IGN did all those release in the US? That is what they are comparing after all

How so most people are comparing move only games to kinect only games. Heavy Rain etc a lot of them are better on controller so you cant really include them as being a strong point for the move. Those games seem to have Move support simply tact on, hey why doesnt kinect do a mini game for the halos mass effects and other high scoring games... Because those games were not designed for kinect and the controller would be chosen for them if you could.
I am not saying they wouldnt be perfect for kinect, well i am for halo but mass effect would be awesome for it. But MS didnt, they decided to make games for Kinect and get other companies to make games for Kinect, games that will be hybrid will be designed for both.
