Forums - General - First Photo of Andrew Garfield as 'Spider-Man' Revealed

Spider-Man probably has more costumes than any other comic book character in history.  I don't see why there's a backlash over this.  Batman hardly wears the same costume, either.  As long as there's an emblem on his chest and the mask looks okay (and sometimes, even when it doesn't), people accept that it's Batman.

Now as a huge comic book geek, this guy looks more like the real Spider-Man (started when he was 15 years old) than Tobey McGuire ever did.  You see, this is supposed to be a reboot of the origin story.  As much as I liked the older movies (even SM3--and are those movies even old?), there were some seriously hokey parts to them.  I'm hoping they fix some of the issues that I've personally had with the movies.  As long as the mask looks good, then it's Spider-Man.  The "Belt Line" and the gloves?  Semantics.

Wizard voted Spider-Man's costume the best Superhero costume of all time, a few years back.  Out of all of the Golden/Silver Age heroes (I'm pretty sure Spidey's from the Silver Age), his original costume probably holds up the best.  But look at the older costumes.  Not to many of them hold up to the test of time.  People's idea of cool and fashionable tend to change.  It happens.  Go with it.  Compared to some of the other movie butcherings of costumes (everything from Steel to Kick Ass) this one actually looks like an improvement to me.

Now, I just hope the movie is good.

In some Spider Man comics he became a teacher at his old age. Think it was in the Peter Parker Spider Man series in the early 200o's or The Amazing's. That would of made a cool story. Seeing him with a black eye teaching a class full of snotty kids making fun of him not knowing hes Spider Man. Then the Lizard could come into play.

Yeah, you're right.  In fact, I'm pretty sure he's doing that in the comics, now.  I wouldn't even mind a movie about old Spider-Man and his daughter Spider-Girl or even a Batman movie based on The Dark Knight Returns or something.  But since they're doing a re-boot that will hopefully become a successful franchise, going younger is the way to go.

let me guess ... its gonna be shown in Extremely Gimmicky 3D

its probably gonna suck even harder like batman begins and they probably chose the worst super hero in existents like Christian Bale as Batman

I just don't understand why there is a "reboot" already. I mean the "old" spiderman isn't even old.  There was like an 8 year gap between the last crappy batman movie with george clooney and batman begins, and it's only been like 3 years(?) since the last crappy spiderman movie. It just seems like a very quick turnaround to be restarting the series again. It seems like there is probably some message about our culture inbedded in this, but I'm going to go play Red Faction instead of think about it.
