Why? Thats rather nasty to wish harm on someone doing with his personal property as he wishes. I have as much right to install Linux on my PS3 as I do my PC.

Ugh, this hack doesn't auto mean = pirate. People hack for different reasons.

If Sony can disable your PS3.....then hackers can possibly do the same thing too...



Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

Not only bad, it could destroy Sony. Imagine if hackers disabled every PS3 in the world at once. That is exactly why you don't build self-destruct mechanisms.

Indeed, pirates would probably buy a very cheap PS3 for hacking and playing single player games on it, and if they really want to play online, they will keep an unmodded PS3 with the sole purpose of it.
