I know this might be hard to do at first, but why do people who say "i dont trust reviews" or "reviewers are wrong and inconsistent in scoring" still read reviews? I have avoided every review for games I could purchase for years now. The only time I read reviews is when the controversy over a score is creating threads on popular gaming sites, vgc included. If people stop reading reviews altogether, Metacritic and review sites would have no power. It might be hard at first to judge games on your own using screenshots, videos, demos, or whatever you need to justify a decision, but it would kill reviews and their power over sales and gamers.

That bolded statement could possibly be one of the dumbest things I've ever read on this forum.  You can't base a game on screenshots, it's as simple as that.  If I based games purely on screenshots and video demos, I would have bought Haze, Lost: Via Domus (actually I did buy that but I knew what I was getting in to), Lair, Bomberman Zero, Saw, Saw II, FFXIV,Red Steel,  Sonic the Hedgehog, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Tron Evolution,  Fighters Uncaged, Too Human, Damnation, Naughty Bear, Terminator Salvation, X-Blades, and countless other awful games.

You've heard the expression don't judge a book from its cover right?  Why do you think that expression exists?

People supposedly "don't trust" reviews because of the fact they're favorite game may have gotten a low score like a 7.8. *gasp*

They can't handle the fact people have differing opinions and say something like "they don't understand the game" or "(insert company here) paid them off!"

It's a bit annoying.

Then again, they wouldn't be like that if they didn't depend on review scores too much in the first place.
