Forums - Sales - MK (2011) vs MvC3 - What will sell more?

Mortal Combat is losing the name recognition of DC while MvC3 will have Marvel's brand name and Street Fighter as well as other capcom characters. I think MvC3 will win. Not to mention it is a long awaited sequel where as MK is just the latest in a franchise people know but don't get too excited for. I think what will keep it close though is the fact that MK will be on sale for $40 after 2 months while MvC3 will stay at $60 for more than twice as long.

MK 2011 will sell to more MK fans than MK vs DC. Losing DC, would lose people who bought the game for the DC characters, but would gain more MK fans. The reactions to the game at PAX were phenominal, and its getting glowing previews. It has received promotion in GameInformer, The Official PS Magazine, The Official Xbox Magazine, GamePro, etc. etc. And *gasp* the game actually doesn't look like horse droppings like the recent MK games have been, therefore word of mouth is gonna be better on this one.

Mortal Kombat focuses on brainless (literally) violence while Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will care about good play mechanics, balance and that kind of stuff, so MK should come out on top quite easily.

lol...this is somewhat true. MK appeals to more casual gamers. But they've added a super meter to the game, changing some of the mechanics a little, requiring a little bit of strategy to come out on top.

Around the Network

Marvel vs. Capcom will win IMO, there are more comic fans, and street fighter/capcom fans than mortal kombat fans.  As well majority enjoy the capcom control styles too.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 will easily win.

I'm sorry but marvel and balance should not be mentioned in the same setence, this is not a balanced fighting game, neither is brawl, but its still popular cause its fun. MK is neither fun (for more than a couple of hours) nor balanced.
