Forums - Sony - If you ran Sony, What would be the first thing you'd do?

I would snag myself one of those fancy Playstation 3 gaming systems!

Do you mean Sony or just SCE? i.e., Sony meaning everything they do or Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) referring to just the playstation brand & development studios, etc.

I'd probably go around to all of Sony's studios to 'inspect' their work (Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, SCE Japan, etc.).

1. Fire anyone that had anything to do with console security

2. ????

3. Profit

The first 3 things I would do are pretty easy and strait to the point.

1) Kill the Sony Ericson cell phone division.

2) Since Sony's products are generally more expensive than its competitors, I would make sure that the products they produce are of higher quality.  (You know like they used to be when things were made in Japan and not China).  If the products aren't up to snuff drop the pricepoint so the company would be on the same level as the cheaper ones.

3) Make sure that when  designing the PS4 that it will be the easiest platform to program for.

Other things of note.

I am not very convinced that the 3d TV market will take off.  I would scale the 3D TV's back and move development dollars over to something else.  Possibly put those extra dollars into PSN.

Go over the ledger, find out what has been losing money the longest and fire everyone in charge.  Bring in some new blood and make sure they understand that if they don't start turning profit their division may not exist in 18 months along with their jobs.

Since the PSP2 is so far along in development, I wouldn't axe that division.  But I would try and integrate the PSP 2 into PSN.  Make sure that nearly every game that comes out for it has some sort of online play, as well as Trophies.

Whoever said that they would kill the PSP 2 so that developers would move over to the PS4 has it all wrong.  Most of these companies are developing games on the PSP, PSP2 for a big reason.  And that is because it costs so much money and takes so long to develop for an HD system.  This means they need a lot of manpower and most of these companies don't have it.  So instead of moving over to the PS4 they would probably just move over to the Nintendo Hand Held market.  This would mean that Nintendo would make even more money.  Also having a PSP2 will cause a lot of people to want a PS4 in the future.  Younger kids who grow up with the PSP2 would probably go to the PS4.  But if they grow up with only having a Nintendo hand held then they may goto Nintendo cause thats what they know.

There's been a thread like this a while back, but times have changed...

I really can't think of anything I'd do actually. They seem to have gotten their marketing up to acceptable levels. I don't know, I guess I would make sure the PS4 had a slew of games releasing early in it's lifetime I guess.

I really don't know, I'm more interested in other people's opinions.

And don't say something like  "buy Nintendo" because it's not funny.

And just because I said don't say it, that doesn't mean you should say because it would be funny. Because it won't be.

Make my PSN accounts have a madatory subscription fee.

V:  And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent. Last night I sought to end that silence.

Sell SCE to Microsoft... And enjoy all the SDF and other Sony fanboy make "Sepuku" to themselves.

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.
