Forums - Gaming - No Aliens: Colonial Marines in 2011

OXM

Aliens: Colonial Marines is definitely still in development and more information was promised to be revealed in the next couple of months. The good news is that we have heard something new. The bad news is that it's something we were hoping not to hear.

Randy Pitchford told EGM in an interview that the game won't be released this year. Considering the game has been in development and talked about publicly for the last few years, expectations were that it would finally make it out this year.

It sounds like the game has probably undergone significant overhaul. Either that or there's a pretty insane amount of polishing going on. Either way, Aliens: Colonial Marines is likely to look very different to the last time it was seen.

Considering Gearbox is resurrecting Duke Nukem Forver, a game we've been waiting twelve years for, we won't begrudge them adding an extra year to Colonial Marines' development cycle. Early 2012 would be nice, though.

lol, does Sega have a game they are shipping in 2011?

Well if they are holding off it either means they are desperate and realise that the game cannot be sold in the state that it is in or because they think they are onto a huge hit and want to climb that steep curve from say 3M sales to 10M sales by polishing another year and raising the quality bar to put it into the epic sales category.

Tease.

I hope the game has face huggers that cover your face and you have to pull them off and then take some cure to prevent infection.  WOOHOO!!!!

Sad but expected. At least it's not canned.

As far as I know this is supposed to be a true FPS, I hope it remains that way instead of them trying to mimic Dead Space (nothing against Dead Space though, an excellent game).

It was very disappointing news to hear, but oh well, as long as it's still being developed.

I've kinda gotten used to long development cycles  for particular games that i want anyway.
