It's not 94 any more, but I still expect quality when I buy high-priced electronics.

I've still got my original UK launch 60gb model (although i have replaced the 60GB hard drive with a 320GB).
I've got to admit im really paranoid that im going to get the YLOD, it's had alot of gaming done on it. So far ive bought 47 games although i only own 23 as ive traded the others, and my girlfriend has also bought the PS MOVE for it. i cant help thinking that it must be nearing its end because of stories like Squall_leonharts. I usually back up my hard drive onto an external every week just incase it does YLOD but it must of been over a month since i last done this.
Im dreading the day that my console switches off never to be switched on again! There cant be muh original 60GB still alive anymore.

My PS3 is awesome. It has not shown a single sign of weakness yet.
I hope it stays like this, its only 2 1/2 years old and a 40 GB model.
Another Original PS3 Lossed T_T
Sorry about your loss dude If I loseed my Original Japanese 60GB(now 500GB) BC Launch model it would be one very sad day in mu gaming Life.

I'd be amazed if Home Insurance covered it. I've yet to see a standard policy that covers "Wear and Tear". Had it been stolen, well, then I guess it'd be covered. But just imagine insurance companies if they had to cover every one of everybodies electrical devices for breaking down. They'd be out of business in no time.

The days of long lasting electionics is few and far nowadays.
It used to be that you'd expect your purchase to last over 10 years even if it came with 1 year warranty.
The warranty was only there to usually cover manufacturing defects.
It makes no sense that our electronics die faster with better technology.

Does anyone know if there is anyway to transfer the information from the HDD that was in my old console to the new one since if i just put the drive in it will format everything on this and that just is not an option!
I mean if there isn't then that is just stupid!
