Isn't the Nintendo (or IQue as it's known there) stuff already in China?

Yes it is, IQue is a joint company between one chinese business man (wei yeng) and Nintendo. Its divided 50/50 even though Nintendo own 100% of the stuff they sell under this label.

Conegamer - I say that the PS3 will beat the DS next week in Japan  (for hardware sales) Forfeit is control over others avatar for 1 week.

There's indeed a huge gaming market in China, anyone remember this? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=119482

With Tencent bigger than Nintend, and  Shanda bigger than Konam/Namco Bandai/Square Enix, Giant and Perfect World bigger than UBI, Capcom, Take Two, The gaming market in CHina is huge and will only get bigger.

The only Chinese company I know that would venture console gaming is Perfect world co (the parent company of Runic that developed Torchlight).

Majority Chinese (not migrate workers that working in sweatshops) in big cities in China are rich enough for console gaming, as myself being one. Although majority of them only play PC/MMO games.

isnt there a ban on gaming consoles in china?

Yep.  That' why PS2's only released in HK officially, iQue is so weird (console within the controller, kiosk downloads for games) and Wii/PS3 are still m.i.a., despite both being announced iirc.

If iQue Wii ever does launch, I think it'll end up being DD only.

Gaming is huge in china.... but the economics is weird. Like WoW is free in china or something like that.

Out of the 1.1 billion people in India around 80% are poor.

China has the second highest rate of piracy next to US.

Chinese or Indians normal population cant afford an Wii let alone an PS3/360 or an gaming PC

they need to buy food and send there kids to australia to be educated then buy gaming consoles

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

They would be dead on arrival.... I dont think anyone will compete with these 3 big boys right now

I read an article from a Chinese developer that said PC gaming is very popular in China because its easy to pirate games. Generally only rich people have consoles.

So unless we can track pirating, we won't really know how big gaming is over there.
