Forums - Gaming - Do you like to play games that you have already beat instead of new ones?

Last year I finally got a PS2 and I bought Dragon Quest VIII, Final Fantasy XII and Rogue Galaxy, I also got Metroid: Other M back in september. I beat Dragon Quest VIII and Final Fantasy XII and I started Rogue Galaxy but then I wanted to play Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance on the GC again and then I played Radiant Dawn on Wii.

And now that I have beat again the Tellius games I started a new file of Final Fantasy IX, I really want to complete Rogue Galaxy and Metroid but I can't help it, I will probably play Eternal Darkness or Breath of Fire II again when I finish FFIX.I feel bad because I have  two new games collecting dust (like every Wii on the planet).

So, do you like to play games that you have already beat instead of new ones?

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

Of course. I go back to my games all the time. Because most new games have horrible replay value.

Rarely, uncharted 1 and 2 are about the only exception. I finally played uncharted 2 in HD for the first time the othe day and I was floored by its visuals. Otherwise if  have money I will get a new game.

Did you recently buy a HDTV?

I always go back to the good old games. I can hardly get into a new series.

There's just something about games these days that do not make me want to go back to them... I think it's those stupid stats that track your every fricking move you do in a game. How about you let me play for fun? Now all I care about is ruining my "perfect" stats and other unimportant things... stupid OCD! I think achievements and trophies are as bad, because they mostly give you nothing in-game anyways (well at least in Uncharted you get money to buy stuff so that's good trophy integration).

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

I always end up going back to games I thoroughly enjoyed playing. I don't have the money to keep buying new games every month or so, nor are there that many new games to interest me. The games I have the option of playing currently are plenty enough to keep me occupied.

I bought a 44 inch plasma last Febuary, but their were so many good games coming out for 360 and Ps3 in the early year I didn't play unccharted two again (already beat it 3 times). I find the graphics more impressive than GOD of War 3 and any other.

With the games listed in the original post, it's no surprise that you went back to play some good games.

Anyway, I too find myself replaying older games before I've finished new ones more often nowadays. Technology has advanced, but game design didn't at the same rate. A lot of new games still suffer from problems that were solved 10-15 years ago, others just aren't that good to begin with.

You think? Well I'm not really a demaning person when it comes to videogames and out of the games I listed I can see me playing again Dragon Quest at least. But there are other games that while I enjoyed them I dont think I could replay them such as Muramasa or Spirit Tracks.

What made you replay Uncharted 2 two times? I sometimes feel like replaying some old games, have yoi feel the same way with any other games besides Ucharted 1 and 2?

Well because it combines almost everything I love in a game. Great action, shooting, puzzles, increadible storyline, insane graphics. I could hardly ask for more so I would say to have replay value a game has to exceed on many levels not just a one or two to make it worth going back to. I'm currently playing the game as I'm online now!!!
