He talked about Donkey Kong being one of the motives to buy consoles, which means they are happy with it's sales, which means it problably moved some hardware, which means there will be a sequel, which means no more Metroid Prime so soon, which means crazy mad Sakamoto will still take care of the franchise, which means he will release another flop, which means the franchise will be even more destroyed.

And for what he talked about the red Wii means there won't me a new console or redesign so soon.

Likely Sakamoto is being sent off to Wario Ware 3D of some sort. That seems like the safe bet for an early 3DS project

Wario Ware's mostly Intelligent Systems at this point, Sakamoto hasn't been heavily invested in the series except for two games really (the original and Twisted, arguably still the best two installments).

My guess is that besides Rhythm Heaven Wii, Sakamoto's working fulltime on bringing Tomodatchi Collection to 3DS, and likely in such a way that it can be brought to audiences worldwide.  The game has 10 million seller written all over it, but only if it can be released outside Japan.

I still think the next Metroid will be another Project M joint though, probably on 3DS, and probably another remake (either Metroid 2 or Super Metroid).

I've always wondered why Nintendo never localised that.  It's sold over 3.5m in Japan alone and its not like Animal Crossing isn't popular here in the West.

I think it would have made a really good release last year in the Autumm, between Summer's DQIX and Winter's Prof Layton 3.

Sakamoto wanted to, but they had issues with the voice recognition software in english.  Hopefully the added horsepower in 3DS will allow them to "perfect" everything for localization... it reminds me a lot of how Animal Crossing for N64 never came to the west, but we eventually got the much improved GameCube version down the line.

Metroid is safe bet for the 3DS
