Whilst the Wii isn't as impenetrable as Soriku likes to make out, i do believe there is at the minimum a 250k lead for Wii in Dec NPD

If you think there's a minimum as big as 250k, it seems pretty impenetrable to me :P People have been saying similar things since the Wii launched but nothing ever pans out. It doesn't really even get close. Wii's just in a different league when it come to the holidays even though Kinect is selling very well too.

If Wii does 3 mill and 360 does 2.8 then that is pretty close and 360 only has to price cut, bundle and cut Kinect to $99 and they'll win next holiday.

Why are you lying? O_o Microsoft themselves have said "sold to consumer" all along, and our figures agree with it. You can't try and convince people all you like but it's not going to change the facts

I'm not lying... everytime Microsoft sold to [their] consumer... retailers... not me and you.

We can discuss if the real sold is near the Microsoft figure or not... but their number are shipped.

MS 360 HW is always shipped. They specficically stated (in their words) sold to consumer for Kinect though. Give it up.

They not changed your figures just for Kinect... wait the fiscal report for the quarter to see the same number as shipped.

Changed my figures? What? That doesn't even make sense.

"With sales already exceeding two and a half million units in just 25 days, we are on pace to reach our forecast of 5 million units sold to consumers this holiday."

You understood... Microsoft didn't change their figures just for Kinect... sold to [their] consumer = sold to retailers.

So wait the fiscal reports to see the 8 million listed as shipped.

No consumers means consumers, it doesn't mean retailers. What is wrong with you?

Wait... What is wrong with you? Aways Microsoft "sold to consumers" means "sold to their consumers" means "sold to retail"... retail = Microsoft's consumer.

Like I said wait the fiscal reports to face it.

The Wii can pull off similar things too though...they just need to announce some new games, though a lot of Wii SW is old too...

Also I don't think price is really a big factor for Kinect. 8 mil sold already after all.

Well, price never hurt Wii either, but when it got a cut it did its best ever Dec either. a $200 Kinect bundle would do major damage.

No, Microsoft have never said sold to consumers before, they only ever list sold/shipped. But with Kinect they've come and said, these are sold to CONSUMER AS IN CONSUMER. Not retail or warehouse or shipments. They had to state it was consumer and clarifiy for a reason, because it's different to past reporting.

Wait... What is wrong with you? Aways Microsoft "sold to consumers" means "sold to their consumers" means "sold to retail"... retail = Microsoft's consumer.

Either way guys it's the supply chain from retailer to consumer was so tight you're looking at maybe less than 10% difference between shipped to retailer and sold to consumer.

Ok. We talk again in a few weeks (with evidences).

I've been expecting NPD to show a 1:1 ratio from wii to 360 and this news seems to indicate that is a strong likelihood.

I'd attribute that to games like NSMBW than a simple $50 cut. I don't really see a cut to $99 doing a whole lot more for the 360 than it's doing now.

Like many fans here do, but it was the price cut that really drove sales.

Kinect is very much in demand as is 360, so a price cut would help a lot, might not massively lift sales, but at worst it'd keep them flat YoY
