The 360 was also above the Wii/PS3 in June, so that would be June-Nov, like DirtyP2002 stated.

Dec. results aren't in yet, so it's still conceivable (though probably unlikely) that the 360 was first in Dec. as well.

Most likely shipped, but that's still probably about 6.5 million that have been sold to consumers. So Microsoft definitely reached their goal of selling 5 million by the end of the year. Good news. They should be able to do 10 million in 2011.

Like he can ONLY track US? Sure there is gonna be some stock on shelves, but you people making out he think's US = world more than he does.


More than likely he was talking just about the USA. France sales are at 100k and Germany is probably around the same amount, it was at about 15k there back at the start of December IIRC. I doubt MS only shipped 100k to both of those countries.

As far as I know, any unit numbers announced by Sony or Microsoft is shipped. I think that was established a long time ago by sites like Gamespot and IGN. Eventually 8 million will be sold easily before Spring. So saying shipped or sold won't make a lot of difference at this point. Kinect was soldout all through the holidays, but Microsoft kept up on the shipping of the units every week, so I have to give them Kudos for that. It's safe to say at least 6.5-7 million has definitely been SOLD to consumers.  Very impressive. Do I see an adjustment in Xbox 360/Kinect sales coming in the near future?

Ok you must be going through the forum because definitely shipped according to IGN. Kinets previous amounts by MS were to consumers, but now they are shipped.

Well it clearly depends how much over 50m they are talking about... I doubt VGC is much off, but I expect we will see an upward adjustment for the 360 by late January.  The NPD thread will be a monster this month.

Kinect sales to existing owners?  Have you been paying attention the last few weeks?... you do know the 360 sold 1m for 2 weeks straight right?  I'm pretty sure a lot of new adopters are down to Kinect, and so it will continue through 2011.

 

I meam the difference... VGC undertracked Kinect but not 360... so the 1-2 million under here was just for Kinect and not for 360.... so maybe these case sold to existing users.

Kinect is bundled...  so if they have underscored the Kinect then they surely must have underscored the 360 somewhat.

No doubt the XBox 360 was also undertracked. VGC will need to figure out what % of XBox 360 were undertracked compared to the individual Kinect that is sold seperately. Probably close to 60% I would think since Kinect is bundles in the 4GB Arcade and 250GB Xbox 360's. We'll see what happens.

My maths with 360 HW...

Last shipment figure:  44.5 million (30th September)
Best Oct-Dec figure: 6 million (2008)

360 shipped over 6 million this quarter to beat the 2008 quarter.

44.5 plus 6 = 50.5

So Microsoft shipped over 50.5 million at 31th December... but like they not said "over 51 million" or "more than 51 million" I conclude the official number to be released on 2/3 weeks are between:

50.6m - 50.9m

VGC had 360 at 50,070,891 wainting one more week to end the quarter... I expect 360 doing 500-600k this week... so final VGC number will be arround 50.5 million.

300k on shelves???

much larger numbers to get hold of now, will start to have inaccurate measurements, makes sense why they would stop. Just goes to show how incredible certain tracking companies/sites/whateverelsethereis
