I think Google is about to get a rude awakening...

The monopoly they are enjoying right now is far more dangerous than any monopoly in IT there has ever been.... imo of course.

Europe is about to pounce all over them.

How do you mean?

In europe according to Statcountrer. They say its due to Chrome taking Marketshare from IE while FF maintained its postion making it number one. LINK

Its because IE doesn't come with copy of Windows 7 in Europe that these browsers are even close to IE. General public doesn't need to switch browsers from IE as it does basic browsing fine.

You're wrong. You'd be hard pressed to find a college campus, school, or office that still uses IE in the US. There's an older generation of internet-ignorant people who still use it, but overall, it's being phased out entirely among professionals and youth. The future of IE is bleak at best. Frankly it's already pretty much done. Just too insecure, and it's no longer the standard for education or major businesses.

PS: I use both Chrome and a Windows-specific mod of Firefox called "Pale Moon," which is much faster and lighter than the standard Firefox, although Firefox 4 beta is much faster and lighter as well.

Their search engine is a door to the control of pretty much everything you may ever do in your lives...   sounds dramatic but it really is if you think about it.  Google is a verb now...  thats how big they are.

They ahve been somewhat naughty recently too... if MS or Sony had pulled this recent trick the world would have imploded and they would have been sued to hell... Google just got away with it.  I'm not sure how you accidentally gather up information like this:

Oh yeah i herd about this :/ My dad just moved jobs from the MOD to M$ (grrrrr) and he always told me that you shouldn't leave too big a foot print on one part of the internet. aka dont just use google, bing etc

Sorry but how does that make him wrong about why it has changed in Europe... he is right.  The anti-competitve rule which made MS unbunbdle IE is of course the reason why it has changed so much recently....

Ironically it is what has made Google get such a hold.  Google gaining advantage from an anti monopoly action... hilarious.

Clearly I was addressing his second statement, that the general public doesn't need to switch from IE, because it does basic browsing just fine, when clearly the general public is switching from IE. Also surely you, as a Microsoft fan, aren't begrudging another company their monopoly...

the thing is Google's monopoly is hard to get control of due to the fact everything they do minus ads are free. Chrome, Google Docs, Android, etc are all free and many can be considered freeware.

Firefox has always been king.

Firefox user here.  Hardly anyone I know that has any PC knowledge still uses IE.  Most I know use Firefox with a few leaning towards Chrome.  I have to use all 3, including Opera for my job, and Chrome is pretty cool, I admit.  I may switch over to it, but IE is just annoying.

wtf. Your opinion may to not use IE but wow that is like saying if you knew this then you would do this. What an absolute joke of a thing to say.

I know about computers, I know a lot of my mates use IE that know PLENTY about computers. Stick to your own generalisations.

Knowing "plenty" about computers doesn't cut it; If you're into hardware, you don't necessarily know about software. IE is a pile of crap; it's slow, buggy, unsafe and a hell to program for.

Thank you.  I was unaware that I even had to specify my reasoning.  Then again, his response was barely coherent, thus proving my point.

It is funny, but hey, if they make a better product, why not use it?

A "microsoft fan"... who? me?  I have an iPhone 4.0 I will have you know!!  I'm a 360 fan yes but I am not a fanboy of corporations.

The monopoly google are gaining is far more dangerous imo and they have already started acting in some fairly shitty ways.

watch and see how it unfolds in the next few years.

Google is playing nicely with many industries. So its will be hard to even consider taking down Google for this reason and my reason above. Even their youtube part is playing nice with the MPAA, causing user nightmares, over damn movie previous which really just shows the MPAA is getting way to far outdated in their marketing sense (more exposure a movie preview gets, the more people will watch the movie!)
