Rock Band 3 is easily the best time investment out of any game you could possibly have had in 2010. The peripherals are expensive, but once you get them you can pretty much play this game forever. I have put dozens of hours trying to master the pro drums and nothing else. The cool thing is that I am starting to get to be a decent drummer now. The vocals are also super expansive because you can sing both the lead and the harmony. I still haven't played the keyboard part yet and the Fender Squier hasn't even been released yet. I look forward to really learning the guitar parts once the Squier is released. With all the DLC options this game can last pretty much forever. I plan on putting at least 500 hours into this one.
The only drawback on this game is cost. So far I have dropped $129 on this game to get the game and the pro drum set (and I had to use amazon credit and deals to get that price). I already had the plastic guitar and microphone. I still need to buy the Midi adapter ($30 on amazon) and eventually the Squier ($280 at lease at Best Buy-- but I need a new guitar ever since mine got stolen). I already have a Roland keyboard which I will attach once I get the Midi adapter. Total cost for me on this game, even with some discounting, is going to be around $450. Ouch! But if you are a musician or an aspiring musician this game is utterly fantastic. The Pro Drums and vocal harmonies are so much fun. The Pro Guitar is going to my most memorable gaming experience of this generation.
Buy this game! It needs major support and has not been selling well, especially on the PS3.
