In the months before the release of Halo Reach and Call of Duty Black Ops there was an argument in the forums over which game would sell more and whether either would manage to dethrone Modern Warfare 2 as the top selling game on the Xbox 360. Looking at the sales charts now (week ending 18th December), Black Ops is streaming ahead of Reach and looks set to top the 360 charts in the near future, but it is likely to gradually run out of stream in the new year and tail of as the next Call of Duty is released next year, with Reach taking a similar pattern minus the new release.
However, looking at the current charts and taking an example for a product with a similar sales method, theres a wildcard of a game that could potentially eclipse the sales of the Call of Duty game in the long term and become the best selling game on the Xbox 360. This game is Kinect Adventures. I know this looks like a long shot, but in the most recent charts, Adventures sold over 100,000 more copies more than Black Ops and has the potential to maintain its sales in the long-term, similar to how Wii Sports has achieved its massive sales tally through being bundled with hardware.
I know this a long shot and Adventures is still way behind, but is there a chance it could do it or is this theory a loafd of rubbish?
