While I have heard of a couple of incidents of online predators using XBox Live and the Playstation Network, Nintendo's much more "Family Friendly" image would turn similar incidents into major national/international news stories. Nintendo knows this, so they tend to be far more restrictive then they have to be to protect people from the dangers of the internet.
