If you've never played M:tG it's a decent intro to the rules of game though I'd still say playing Magic Online over that but if you have played before, stay as far away from Duels of the Planeswalkers as possible. It's a pretty terrible game.
- The interface is bad
- The 2.5 second timer after every action sucks and is about one of the most aggrevating mechanics ever made
- You can't actually create your own decks, you can only add to the bad premade ones with specific cards
The first two are bad but can be ignored but it's the third thing that really makes it a terrible game. Magic: the Gathering is all about creating and playing decks. Duels of the Planeswalkers gives you no freedom to do that. If you want a good Magic game, just played Magic Online. Tactics looks interesting (of course I was one of the few people that liked Battlemage), we'll see how good it is.
