Forums - Gaming - Console Showdown 2010: Which console had the best exclusives?! (IGN)

I don't really see the point of doing this. Plus it's not even done in a fair matter. Unless they will also compare the overall line-up of every console.

Because when a game isn't exclusive to the 360 it means that it's also on the PS3. But it's not on the Wii. I'm thinking about games like Red Dead Redemption or Bayonetta.

So I agree that the Wii had the best exclusive line-up but in order to crown a winner for the year, I think it would be wise of them to compare the overall line-up.

Because it's obvious it's either the PS3 or the 360 in that case.

Correct, which is exactly why they didn't compare the overall line-ups. No reason to state the obvious.

IGN is pretty fair when it comes to console comparisons even if they had a strong history in trolling Nintendo.. but i seen alot of fanboys in the ign comment section in denial lol

Is it me or are lots of multiplatform games included: Sakura Wars, Mass Effect 2, Risk Factions, etc.

Anyway I agree and the comments on IGN are really depressing

I didn't realize the ps3 had such a weak year, 360 has some pretty sexy games, might have to pick one up with the Christmas money i got xD.

I disgree there, I found PS3's year to be ahead of 2009, and on equal footing with the 360. Sure, there were big titles like Killzone 2 & Uncharted 2 in 2009, but with God of War 3, GT5, HEAVY RAIN, & Yakuza 3, the year was pretty good.

As for Nintendo, I think they had a good year, but they've seen better ones with the Wii. Still, no complaints from me.

Um...what year was that pray tell? As far as I'm concerned this is the best year Wii in terms of catering to both hardcore and casual gamers alike.  But I wouldn't expect a non-Nintendo gamer to know that anyways.

Wii has always had the best exclusives bar none. Though I wouldn't quite say overall best library, as I think that title belongs to the 360. Though it has also been out a year longer so it has that advantage.

I don't know I find my playing time pretty equal for both systems.  My DS-L had been benched a bit since getting a Droid2, but I find reason to still fire up each system when time permits.  I guess it's just a matter of what I'm in the mood for.

@rolstoppable  point taken but in there defense It is the work of one or two editors, you cant judge everyone who works at IGN on a few guys, and personally I agree with what they said about NSMBWii to an extent. and when they said ME2 was better than Uncharted 2 i didnt complain, its one guys opinion, im gonna respect it. Any publisher that deserves some wrath is GI some of those reviewers SOUND like they just hate the Wii, Im not a huge fan but even I was a little taken back by the MW reflex and Goldeneye reviews

WOW...a positive Wii comment from oniyide is it 2012 already!!!???

You sound like Nintendo gamers are an elite squad of specialist lol

Well, that's IGN's choice based on their own review scores. The only thing we can do is to agree or disagree with their choice. I have to say all 3 consoles had a better year than last year, or at least an equal year.

The Wii surely had some big games this year. They had some big core titles, titles that appeal to the core and the casual crowd (Mario Galaxy 2 for example) and pure casual titles (like Wii Party). I don't know if it was the Wii's best year ever, but from my point of view it was at least better than 2008 and 2009.

The 360 had lots of exclusives, or at least console exclusives this year. It was definitely better than 2009, but it didn't have much for my personal taste. Mass Effect 2 was one of my favourite games this year though.

Now the PS3. In my opinion 2010 was equal to 2009, if not even a bit better. It had more than enough exclusives this year and  I wasn't dissappointed with any of those I had bought. Sony showed again that they are able to deliver big quality titles, and even 3rd party developers delivered some great exclusives this year (like Yakuza 3 and 3DDGH). So, does Sony have the quality this year? Hell yes!

In the end it's subjective which console had the best exclusives this year, everyone should decide for himself.
I bought 2 Wii exclusives this year, 2 X360 exclusives, 6 PS3 exclusives and tons of multiplatform games. And based on my own experience the PS3 had the best exclusives this year. But this is, as I said before, subjective.

2012 - Top 3 [so far]

                                                                             #1                                       #2                                      #3

Hrm I was wondering why they counted so many XBLA games/DLC as exclusive when they're on PC as well and old N64 games like Perfect Dark are counted in there but not Virtual Console games which actually bring over games from Japan that never released here and are 100% exclusive to Wii aren't counted... example Castlevania X: Rondo of Blood a 9.0 VC game or Super Smash Bros which people had been waiting on for a while to hit the VC.

Other than that little inconsistency it's a pretty solid list with a logical outcome, which sorta proves the point of being a Wii and PS3 or 360 gamer so you really do get 90% of the exclusives and multiplats, like if you're a gamer that picks your consoles based on games you'll get no where else, you have to go Wii, but if you want the good multiplats you need a PS3 or 360, simple stuff really.

MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"

Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000

It's sad seeing Plants vs Zombies here when it was exclusive to the PC in 2009 and anyone with an 8 year old pc can play it
