Forums - Gaming - 3rd partys should stop making console exclusive games

This gen probably has the least 3rd party exclusives of any so far.  The fact that Wii likely has the most 3rd party exclusives, yet arguably the worst 3rd party support, kinda speaks for itself.

360 and PS3 are practically interchangeable in my eyes, that's how much redundancy there is in their libraries imo.  There was more diversity on PS2/GC/Xbox even.

@jarrod   me and you dont see eye to eye on much but damned if I dont agree with you 110% on this.

Except on the Wii (which often gets only shovelware from some 3rd parties), the exclusive games are generally of better quality than the multiplats. Give me Uncharted, inFamous, Demon's Souls or GeoW, ME over CoD, GTAIV, FFXIII.

Of course there's been great multiplats, but too often they are either underachievers on one or both consoles, or PC games suffering from consolitis.

@WlydRage  I guess I sorta agree with you but Demon's Souls is the only 3rd party exclusive you said that you rather play. and ME was never really exclusive. Good as those two games are I really dont think they are really pushing whatever system they were on. IMHO thats where the 1st parties come in they know the system better and can really push them

Demon's Souls isn't technically 3rd party.

Notable 3rd party exclusives are actually pretty few and far between on the HD twins.

well, sometimes the small time devolopers/publishers or even the big publishers might not want to risk millions on an title or cant afford to put out an console title so they go to one of the big 3 and ask if any want to split the bill and help with marketing. For example Game X is going to cost an 20 million to make and its an new IP. Publisher goes to SONY and asks if they want to split it, SONY gives 10 million. Game goes exclusive, SONY promotes it at E3 or other trade shows, game gets publicity as an exclusive and the fanboys love buying games that others cant have.

And one game that had the above situation was this years Heavy Rain.

Exclusives are all bad.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
