After going back and forth with fan requests, Yoshinori Kitase, producer, finally decided to include a shower scene in The 3rd Birthday. Speaking with Famitsu, Kitase said he was hoping to make The 3rd Birthday available to a wide range of age groups and was concerned about a scene upping the rating. However, Kitase realized Aya’s appeal is an important element of the game and green lit the scene. The scene is really suggestive, Kitase said.

 

 

This one little scene actually raised the game’s rating, director Hajime Tabata explained, and apologized to the marketing staff. Another interesting tidbit is Isamu Kamikokuryou, art director, said he and the art team decided to make the scene first and said it’s up to Kitase and Tabata to decide whether to put the shower scene in the game or not.

Also just incase anyone is interested The 3rd Birthday got high marks in Famitsu, scoring 10, 9, 8 and 9 for 36/40.

The 3rd Birthday has been getting positive reviews on Amazon Japan (which is surprisingly accurate on how good a game is when you look at user reviews).

While it's a good throwback to PE2, I would much rather have them re-do most of the CGI scenes of PE1. Central Park scene and the museum scene >>>>> > PE2 bathroom scene.

Dont forget that Japan can be a weird place. Its known that a lot of people get off with established characters in questionable scenarios. Ive seen worse.

I don't get why some people are seeing this as degrading when it's just a throwback scene that already happened 11 years ago.

It's probably the most recognized scene from Parasite Eve 2, so it kinda figures that they would re-use it in a flashback or some similar situation.
