I see no differance in those screenshots either. I will say that I'm liking the demo so far. Can you skip cutscene in the full retail version because you can't in the demo and that annoys me in games?

Skip cutscenes? In Mass Effect?? Walk away, just walk away right now.

LOL theres just sometimes you want to skip a 5 minute cutscene and get straight into the gameplay and when you play a game for the second time you want to skip the stuff you have seen already

I was under the impression that the PS3 version was a nice step up graphically compared to the 360 version, but I don't see a difference.

I don't know if you can do this in the 360 version but in the ps3 demo if you go into the options menu at the begining before starting the demo it has a graphics option that allows you to either add or remove the film grain effect.  The film grain effect is on by default so im going to go into it and see if the game look changes much but it could make a difference for better or worse.

I hate you platinum, I hate you......PS3 FTW.........PSN ID: Battousai147

LOL!  Could you imagine?  Skipping through some of the tough decisions and having it always default to Renegade, lolololol!

Looks the same. The final test should be which version maintains better framerate and tears less.

Looks exactly the same, it should look better given the extra time.

Why do people always say this?  Look, there is no extra time.  Extra time would mean time spent optimizing from the code base already there - but that's impossible because they're switching platform.  In this case they used the newer engine and brought over all the assets from ME2.  That's not time spent optimizing from the 360 version.

Late ports/releases don't have more time spent on them optimizing performance.  Any improvements in the case of ME2 on PS3 are down to the use of the newer engine not further optimization of the code.

Sorry to rant - but as a former programmer I just get annoyed at the assumption that a title releasing later means the devs have had all that time to optimize - they don't.  Probably the opposite, with the devs working hard just to get the game onto the new platform and stable.

Normally a late port looks worse - I'm actually impressed ME2 - going by the demo - looks so similar given the relatively short timeframe they probably had to develop it on PS3 using the same engine at the same time they must have been developing ME3 for both platforms (and PC) at the same time.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

It's probably best to just wait for the final retail release.

While the difference may not be major, depending on what stage of development code they used to run the demo (depending on how far ahead of gold code the demo was compiled), it's not a stretch to expect the retail code to run a bit smoother with less frame tearing. Oddly, the frame tearing was really only noticeable during cutscenes.

The only thing I noticed about the PS3 screen grabs is that there don't appear to be any true blacks, making shadows appear a bit washed out compared to the 360 screen grabs. Some of the detail on the PS3 appeared more defined, but... no point in quibbling over screen grab minutiae when you have the actual demo and game for reference.

This washed out effect is not visible when playing the demo.

The demo actually measures up well against the PC version when played at the same 1280x720 resolution.
