Forums - Sony - The Legend of Dragoon Sneaks onto JP PSN

Played it last year (or was that 08? The VGC plays LoD thread) and liked it. While being overshadowed by FF's, I still prefer it over FF VII and VIII.

Sure the voice acting sucked, but like there was a lot of it. English ain't my first language so translation doesn't bother me as much as it could and I actualy liked the story. As well as the battle system. As for the soundtrack, well, some tracks were good, but others sound like something a 5 year old composed them. Played the game on PSP and PC so changing cd's was piece of cake. Not that I backtracked that much...

The voice acting?  The translation?  The story?  The fact that you had to change discs just to go back to an earlier area?  None of these things hampered you guys' enjoyment of this game?  It had pretty graphics (at the time) and a beautiful ending theme but I HATED this game.  I can barely remember the battle system but if I could, I'd probably hate that, too......

no, no and no. in fact, i liked the story. and changing discs back in the day wasn't an issue, infact it was awsome back in the day to be able to go back to the previous discs. i also thought the battle system was awsome, the combos plus the ability to go into dragoon mode and kick the shit out of all the enemies except the boss battes where in, convinently their a dragoons weakness.

seems to me you played ff7 before playing lod and bought in to the crazy expectations. I remember how they were saying that his game was the next evolution in rpg and would put ff7 to shame. If you believed that shit most likely you'd hate this game as you'd be going into this game with some far out stupidly high expectations.

good thing i dont buy into these hypes nor do i give a shit about review scores.

Just checked the sales of this and it did 1.87 mil combined. for a new IP at the time, i would say thats a solid number. so i'm not sure why Sony never got round to a sequel. i mean something like Sly Cooper sold less, got 2 sequels and a HD rerelease. loads of new games probabily sell less than that and are considered successful.

eg, Demon's Souls was a success when it did 0.5mil WW. i think the only reason for no sequel was probabily the measure of success at the time for an RPG - FF7. maybe it was also expensive because of the size and scale.

I don't know what people were smoking back in 1999 (or whenever Legend of the Dragoon came out) but that game was horrendous!  I'm hoping that this game gets released over here so that people will realize how wrong it was for them to like this game.

ah 1999 the year of the weed, you missed it lewis.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

I really enjoyed LoD. I hope that they can get a sequel out sometime soon.

Good. One of my favorite games for the Playstation. Now if only they'd sneak Suikoden 2, Tomba!, and Tales of Destiny 2 on there. And why does the Japanese PSN have so many Playstation games and the U.S. and UK networks don't? Licensing? Lack of Interest?

It really annoys me how poor the UK (EU) PS store is in comparasin to the US store. especially considering its Sonys strongest region at the moment.

Last time I played this game, I was on disc 4.  Nice game but I got distracted.  I'm glad I still have my original non-Greatest Hits version in near-mint condition.

Yea, I noticed that....You guys got the Killzone 2 demo before us, that's got to count for something right? Ok, maybe not.
