Forums - Sony - The Legend of Dragoon Sneaks onto JP PSN

SiliconEra

Even though their official release list for the week doesn’t include it, Sony’s legendary Legend of Dragoon is now on PlayStation Archives in Japan…but you can only find it on the front page.

If you log on to the Japanese PSN from your PSP and access the Game Archives section, you should see The Legend of Dragon on the front page, downloadable for 600 yen. Access the “new releases” section of the Game Archives, and it’s not there. Very odd.

I don't know what people were smoking back in 1999 (or whenever Legend of the Dragoon came out) but that game was horrendous!  I'm hoping that this game gets released over here so that people will realize how wrong it was for them to like this game.

I agree... I got nightmares because of the amount of random encounters while the combosystem lacked a lot..  but if anyone wants to buy my PAL version for 200 euro's call me! :)

I thought it was pretty good actully, LOD was completely overshadowed by FF at the time and i think had it of come sooner then it wouldve been better appreciated. the combo system was simple and to the point, you didnt have to level grind for hours on end, like you have to in the more recent FFs. okay, it got repititive but what game dosent.

the random battles wernt too bad, its an RPG, they wernt difficult encounters. they were okay, not too easy, but neccessary to progress through the dungeon.

i found it was good, but it staled when it came to CD4. and the music was excellent. a truely underappreciated game imho.

I played it for the first time ever last year and loved every minute of it. Never got to finish though but what ever. I hope PSplus gets it for free over here.

I thought it was a great game.I agree, it was overshadowed by FF.

I thought the combo system was cool, and the random encounter wasn't that bad. My only issue with it was that equipments were expensive as hell and you'd have to grind forever to just equip your primary party.

The voice acting?  The translation?  The story?  The fact that you had to change discs just to go back to an earlier area?  None of these things hampered you guys' enjoyment of this game?  It had pretty graphics (at the time) and a beautiful ending theme but I HATED this game.  I can barely remember the battle system but if I could, I'd probably hate that, too......

Well d21lewis, i didnt mind the voice acting tbh, barely much in the game, it didnt impact me much. and the translation in FF7 wasnt great either tbh, it was only until FF8 when Sqaure really pushed with top quality localisation; at the time it was acceptable for the sheer volume of text in the game imo.

changing discs was cool back in the day, but i mean changing back and forth was annoying i'll admit.

i think the story actully made it very good. i liked how the story started off as just a war, in one continent, then you would end up chasing a mysterious man (okay a bit too much like Sephiroth) and uncover a great conspiracy. and the story would change, if you know what i mean. you dont just follow the same plot for 4 disks. the story changes dramatically each disk.

i personally loved the 2nd chapter when you would be chasing the mysterious gang of theives on the second continent. but i felt the grand story on the 4th disk right at end was a bit dissappoining. overall a great story imo.

Ha, yeah, I tried it a few years ago and couldn't get into it.

I've got some of friends that love it, though, re-playing it even now (as in, yesterday). They go on and on about how it needs a sequel...

If the game ended up coming out here, guess I'll have to let em know

Sounds like an 9/10 game (if you use Soriku's score system)  =p..

Anyway I remember I enjoyed the game then...and changing disc is not really that bad...Rather changing disc then not having the ability to go back to an earlier area..
