Forums - Gaming - New EDGE magazine reviews: GT5, Epic Mickey, Blacks Ope & more

Its not the scale that matters. They don't consider the scale for games like Gears of War 2 for which they happily gave a 9/10. God knows how they gave it that, when it had the most broken online this generation. Maybe they "forgot" to review the online part.

And then you have MGS 4 releasing the same year, with an 8/10. Makes no sense when you compare the scores, unless they "forgot" that MGO is not a part of MGS4 and reviewed them together.

the my-game-got-a-bad-score-therefore-you-suck argument is always amusing.

Have they ever done a good reveiw? O.o

These are all their 10/10 review scores:

GTA IV
Halo 3
Super Mario Galaxy 1
Super Mario Galaxy 2
The Orange Box
Half Life 2
Little Big Planet
Bayonetta (the f*ck?!)

So its not all bad from EDGE I guess :P

Orange Box, Mario Galaxy  and Bayonetta deserve a 10 in my books.

Halo 3 is a 10 for multiplayer gamers but single player isn't on par.

Little Big planet and Mario Galaxy 2 I didn't play so I cant comment there.

GTAIV is too tedious to be a 10...

Seems like Edge is pretty much bang on with my views.

What they hell is Hydroventure on Wii?  Sounds like shovelware but it got an 8.

It's a Wiiware game. It's also known as Fluidity.

Ah Fluidity.  Should have guessed.  Good score for it.  Will have to get that.

I reckon they take the day off down the pub and just have a laugh surfing the net for fun reading the responses.

There reviews as written are very good I think, but they do struggle to be consistent with the score they apply at the end, which can vary in content a lot by reviewer and genre.  I think they'd rather not have the score at all but feel they need to slap one on because everything needs a score these days.

I wish they'd drop them altogether.  Imagine, having to read the entire review and judge for yourself whether the game sounds good to you...

They recognized the brilliance of Halfe Life 2 (in various forms) plus LittleBigPlanet so that's enough for me.  Given every preview says LittleBigPlanet 2 is better in every way then LBP I guess the odds must be good that, as with Super Mario Galaxy, we could be looking at two straight 10s for the each iteration.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Come to think of it, maybe they have different people reviewing different platforms/genres because they never write the author's name on the article.
