Hey I cut my lip shaving about 3:30 hrs ago and the blood won't stop gushing. Its just a small knick I applied pressure the bleeding has gone down a bit but every five or six minutes I need to grab another wad of paper towel to sop up the blood. I wanna go to sleep but the bleeding just will not stop.

Any suggestions, I've applied pressure, I've used Hydrogen Proxide I've tried covering it with my lower lip and sucking on it. But it won't stop bleeding!

Yah it is the first time its happened in years. I don't know what is with the lip it seems that it just keeps bleeding. The bleeding appears to be nearly over but it started around 12:15 PST and its 3:59 PST now, that is a hell of a long time to be bleeding.

I just put more hydrogen proxide on it and rubbing alchohol and it seems to have slowed the bleeding down more. A few years ago it happened with my lip, my other cuts stop bleeding in minutes to like an hour at worst if when I have required stitches so why exactly does a lip take so dang long?

The lips are areas of our body which are irrigated by many micro blood vessels. It's natural that it bleeds for quite a while when cut.

However, using alcohol and hydrogen peroxide isn't a good choice to make the bleeding stop, because they interfere with the clotting action of the platelets.

Just put pressure on it and wait until it stops. And when possible, refer the case to your doctor. More than three hours is a bit of a stretch, so he might ask for a blood analysis to check your clotting patterns.

I had a girlfriend who had blood in her urine but when I banged her I got blood on 'me' and all down my thighs. Does this mean she pissed on me when I banged her? :-/

along with pressure,applying some thing cold(ice pack)  should help the blood vessels constrict and stop the bleeding sooner.if this is the first time it could be an acquired bleeding disorder, maybe a common a vit k deficiency. remember to put sufficient pressure and for a couple of minutes.........not just a few seconds. suggest u visit the emergency room if it doesnt subside in less than half an hour.....normally takes minutes......as u already know

p.s if u are on aspirin or some thing similar.........it might explain the prolonged bleeding.....

Because you never know the kind of damage a 120 pound woman can do if you get her angry enough.
