Well, if it's true that it will be a phone, it will recieve massive sales, but that will be more from people using the non-gaming features. If we're talking in terms of actual GAME sales, I think it will perform even more poorly than the PSP.

Nope the PSP2 and the PSPhone (now called Zeus Z1) are two different things.

Hmm I didn't know that, I stand corrected..

So Sony is actually gonna support TWO handheld gaming devices? Interesting to see how they will pull that off..

Yeah. Right now, I just wonder how much money it's costing them.

Sony has always supported more than one handheld. Sony Ericsson makes the other handheld which are also phones, and they have been doing business for years. lol

If Sony is smart definitely bigger than PSP, it was piracy that saved that console from doom (outside of Japan) how PSP2 will hold up depends on how Sony handles it. A Video streaming service like netflix and PS2 games downloadable from PSN directly to your PSP2 will help its odds a lot. Backwards compatibility with all PSP1 games that you can download for PSP-Go will also help it a lot. And trophies for PSP2 games as well as letting some if not all PSN games work directly on the console.

I still think the PSP2 sales will surprise some people. As it seems it will be really powerful and try to cater to the hardcore gamers instead of go to the wide market as iOS devices and 3DS. It could get a very loyal fanbase and pull up healthy sales and revenue for Sony.

Catering to the so called "hardcore" would mean very little success compared to nintendo handhelds.

And the psp was more powerful than the ds and that didn't signal better sales

Yes, could seems little success compare to Nintendo. But i have the feeling Nintendo can get hardtime for its 3DS as they are fighting with the iOS device and other tablets/smartphone for the expended audicence. On other hand, Sony can count on a very loyal base and if they play their cards well can expand to other "hardcore gamer" (Good multiplayer feature and connection, trophies...) so could have a good base that buy lot of game.

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.

I'm not too confident that it'll do well due to the simple fact that studies show a younger crowd tends to purchase handheld game systems...

Given that statistic, great graphics and an assumably higher price, will turn the majority of the market away from it.

In my opinion, exit the handheld league... nintendo has it on lock..

“Absolutely, we can do much more with it. I don’t know if we are even close to 50 percent of PlayStation 3’s power at this point,” said Asmussen about God of War 3.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

Oh, no doubt, I was just wondering is all. Didn't really mean anything by it.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Has this even been officially announced let alone have a release date set in stone? If not, then I don't see it being much of a success, with the 3DS and whatnot, at least when PSP came out it was a "revolutionary" system of sorts, unless this contains some insane features that are not commonly found on android/apple etc, I don't see it doing too well, unless of course the line up is stellar :o, too many variables.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

It depends on 1 single big factor, whether Sony can lock Monster Hunter in, not like what happens with GTA or FF.

Ok, I wont care for FF13 even if its an exclusive.
