For the longest time I've been trying to find the name of an SNES game I played back in the day.  It was a 2.5day brawler(like final fight) with 4 or 5 playable different characters. Each character had their own special abilities, and there was even unlockable characters.  One of those characters wore denim. I also remember a few of the levels. There was an abandoned science building with slime mutants, and a hangar. It was pretty much ten kinds of awesome.

Nevermind, I just found it! The Peace Keepers! I should have named this thread the best beat em' up I played as a child. Smooth gameplay and super fun to beat with multiple characters.

I was gonna say Brawl Brothers.  Another great beat 'em up from the guys that made the Final Fight clone called Rival Turf (the guy on the cover of Rival Turf looked just like me when I was 13!).
