then went around using his newfound celebrity to have speaking engagements where he was accused of rape and molestation.

Then he released a shitloat of american cables... and everyone now thinks the rape charges which were filed BEFORE these releases were a setup for these releases even though the best things people can say about him are "He's a male chauvinest but I don't think he would rape anyone." and "He's turned wikileaks into a self promoting website not about important leaks but about himself and his own political views so we're making a new website".

Julian Assange is in the journalism business and he's a professional hacker and stuff. He would be the stupidest guy in the world if he were to rape someone. He knows how easy it is to dig for informations and he knows people are constantly after him and most likely following his very gesture. I call it fake.

Yes, because he one of the people who had one of the biggest impacts in USA history. The article would have put the USA in bad light though, due to the fact it would have had to go into detail about the fact we gave him money and weapons to take over the region his Taliban soldiers occupy.  Then again, we could have also had Saddam too since he was also put into power by our government.
