Madworld did have television ads, and I'm sure it had magazine/internet/etc ads as well.  It wasn't a massive campaign, but I doubt a huge advertising budget would have done much for sales compared to the extra expense.

They plan to extend their contract with Platinum Games though.

Gameplay > Story > Content > Graphics

Visual Style > Graphics

Smooth Camera, Intuitive Controls

They didn't advertise here in Australia. I see no game tv ads on free to air. There are a few ads on paytv which most people cant afford so it really is pointless.



 

 

- Short and repetitive. it would have tank on HD consoles also, maybe sell a little better but not so much. Bayonetta that gets much better appeal (and reviews) didn't do much more better either (and the difference is because of Japan. and, if i remember well, could be because madworld release much later in Japan and with a 18 rating).



But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.

Though according to SEGA, Madworld selling 580k isn't enough?

Maybe because huge part of those sales were done at amazing price of <20$  ?

Even now you can get it for 4,93 pound with free UK postage included.  Whatever Sega gets from it hardly even covers costs of royalties for Nintendo those discs costed.

I remember how some people wouldn't shut up about Chinatown Wars would do better on PSP.

And then it was released on PSP. Suddenly, no a word about it.



SEGA is deluded.

Hardcore games does not sell either on PS3/360

Vanquish: 360k

God Hand on PS2  flopped as much.



I highly doubt it would have sold better on PS3/360, even if it did not by much and this would be negated by the higher development costs.

I've played Madworld and I think it is an O.K game, but that is all.  It is by no means fantastic or even very good.  The reasons why this game didn't sell better, were not that it was on the Wii IMO.  It was the art style (I know 2 people who were put off by it), the length, almost no advertising (I saw none whatsoever in the U.K) and the lack of online.  Hell, even God Hand didn't exactly set the charts on fire and that was on the PS2.




Sorry but this game wasn't very good at all. I hate it when these kinds of games are brought up after they fail because the game it self wasn't that good to begin with.



Madworld was very good.

 

One of the most fun game this generation. But too hardcore to sell on all consoles.
