Why do so many people jump on the bandwagon?  The below link has statistics for people's favorite football team (figured it would interest people on this site), and there is a clear correlation between success and being people's favorite team.  For instance, the Saints were the 24th favorite team last year, but after they won the Super Bowl they jumped to 5.  The Dolphins used to be one of America's favorite teams, but after years of losing they've lost their fan base.

I just don't understand why people do this.  My Browns and Bengals are at the bottom of the list, and I will continue to root for them regardless of their records.  Nothing makes me want to root for the Saints or Patriots if they are doing well, if anything their success makes me want to root for the underdogs who play them.

Being from Western Pennsylvania has made it pretty easy for the past five years :)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I'm Canadian so I don't have a local team I'm obligated to cheer for. The 3 teams I really cheer for (in order) are the Titans, Eagles and Chargers.

When people called me a Titans bandwagon jumper last year I showed them my Eddie George jersey I've had since I was like 7 or 8 (back when he still played for them)

isn't it more fun to root for a winner? people want that instant gratification, why be tied down to one team that might not always win when you could root for a team that has a very good chance of winning

Long time Bengal fan here as well and I will never jump ship.  I do have a few teams other than the Bengals I like and consider myself a fan of.  But there is only one team I love and  thats the Bengals.  What a fracking disappointing year.  Who would have thought they would have stunk it up so much with T.O and OCHO?  At this point I hope they lose the remainder of games so they can get another good draft pick.

Have been for 5 years and will still be a Jagaur fan.

Former something....

Simple.

Very few places actually have proffesional teams.

If you don't live in a local market, the TV games you get are going to be the ones that the networks think people want to see, which are the good teams.

It's not fun being a fan of a team through newspapers and boxscores.

Yerah, alot of talk about them permanently becoming the Toronto Bills.

OT: I've always been a titans fan but when it becomes clear they aren't going to make the playoffs I root for my secondary: The Jags. I actually lived in jacksonville when the titans played them in the playoffs for the AFC championship. Out of my class I was only one of 2 people who rooted for the titans so I was thrown out of class while they were making signs for the game. My teacher was a bitch..... Four years after that I moved back to tennessee.

So yeah.. I have always been a titans fan.
