The below link has statistics for people's favorite football team (figured it would interest people on this site), and there is a clear correlation between success and being people's favorite team. For instance, the Saints were the 24th favorite team last year, but after they won the Super Bowl they jumped to 5. The Dolphins used to be one of America's favorite teams, but after years of losing they've lost their fan base. I just don't understand why people do this. My Browns and Bengals are at the bottom of the list, and I will continue to root for them regardless of their records. Nothing makes me want to root for the Saints or Patriots if they are doing well, if anything their success makes me want to root for the underdogs who play them. http://www.harrisinteractive.com/vault/HI-Harris-Poll-Favorite-NFL-Teams-2010-10-12.pdf |
Long time Bengal fan here as well and I will never jump ship. I do have a few teams other than the Bengals I like and consider myself a fan of. But there is only one team I love and thats the Bengals. What a fracking disappointing year. Who would have thought they would have stunk it up so much with T.O and OCHO? At this point I hope they lose the remainder of games so they can get another good draft pick.
