Forums - Sales - Tron Evolution. Poor reviews will hurt sales. I'm mad!

Ok!  So I finished the game last night and started a second playthrough tonight.  This game is great.  From beginning to end.  I never play a game twice.  I always tought: what's the use?  Well, Tron Evolution did it for me.  I want to collect everything I didn't get the first time around.  Plus, the gameplay doesn't get old, neither do the environments.  Super game.  Let's get the word out!

Well, I was, sadly, right.  The sales are not good.  Not good at all.  I still think the bad reviews are killing this game.  I am on my second playthrough and it still is amazing.  At leat, Gamespot gave it a 7.  Ign reviewers are morons.

Not all games can rate above 80.

And there are enjoyable games with bad ratings.

James Bond 007: Blood Stone was pretty enjoyable for how long it lasted though I wouldn't pay 60 dollars for it.

Hi folks,

I just wanted to thank you all for your kind words and enthusiasm for TRON: Evolution - I actually work with Disney Interactive, so it makes us very happy to encounter fans enjoying our hard work. It's enthusiasm like yours which gives us confidence; good reviews from online sources are great to have, but let's be honest, a thousand glowing professional reviews aren't half as effective as a personal recommendation from a friend, and judging by y'all's responses I get the feeling that your buddies all know how much fun you're having with TRON: Evolution :) I'll try to keep an eye on this thread, so if you have any questions about TRON: Evolution or TRON: Evolution Battle Grids, holla at yr boy and I'll try to answer them for you. Thanks again for your support!

I don't think the reviews are going to really hurt sales.  Sadly the expectations are any movie based game - that is a game launched to coincide with a movie regardless of if it's telling the same story or not - will suck.    Unfortunately there's a lot of precidents for that and it's generally true because of the short turnaround time on these games.   They simply aren't original gameplaywise (except in very rare occasions) and aren't polished.

The recent Prince of Persia game was great too (especially the Wii version) but even with a strong gaming brand, and movie tie-in, it tanked.   In fact, the movie tie-in was probably why it tanked.

So even without the reviews people would expect this game to be 'meh'.  And I'd expect sales to be quite soft.  Tron is not exactly a 'big' franchise to begin with.  Most people under 30 probably never heard of Tron.  Hopefully the new movie will bring life to it.

Personally I probably will get Battle Grids at some point (it's getting decent reviews) but I've gotten more than enough titles recently, and have a few more I still want (Epic Mickey, Wii Party, etc), so this will have to wait until it's bargained priced.  (Sorry James_TRON)

I have to disagree with everyone linking sales to reviews. Look at MoH for example it didn't get the best reviews out their but it still broke a million.

Now I love Propaganda Games I bought Turok and loved it. However as a rule of thumb other then StarWars I do not buy movie games, so I won't be buying this one. Also I do listen to one Critic though I must say I don't value most critics opinions.

But I do go with Victor Lucas, I really admire the man and agree with most of his ratings. He also gave Tron a bad rating so I won't take a gamble buying it and hoping he is wrong. Not to mention I never watched the origional Tron so I'm not a massive fan.

If I love the movie then I might consider a rent, but as I said I don't buy movie games and I do listen to alot of what Victor Lucas says.

You expected this game to sell well or be good in any way? No offence but it's been a while, if ever there was a GOOD game that was tied to a movie, Iron Mans, Harry Potters etc were all shovelware so I dont see why the pattern would change in any way, chances are this is as reviews depict it, a steaming pile of elephant dung, sure the first few hours may be considered "fun" but the rest of the gameplay is likely to be a repetitive bore. Imho, these kind of things should release as Arcade games on XBA and PSN, you may like the game but the general consensus is usually that a few people like it and a BOATLOAD of people that hate it.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

You just like Tron that' is probably why you enjoy it...No the devs will not cut the DLC considering it probably already is finished...

Maybe...just maybe it's possible for a movie based game to be good.  Just that, good and enjoyable.  Tron Evolution should not be judged on that basis alone, in my opinion.  And I knew it would not sell well, too many factors are going against it.  But in the end, I am a satisfied buyer.

hold the freaking phone here, not all movie based games suck, just most of them. Spider-man2, the Warriors, x-men origins: wolverine,  all good games with decent sales. as for Tron I played the game it wasnt all that, ironically enough I heard that the PSP version was the best of them all, i might check that one out
