Do bears shit in the woods?

I've devoted about 500 hours into Oblivion including mods and expansions and about 150 hours into Morrowind. I watched the trailer 4 times, just to make sure. Next year is going to be an awesome year for gaming.

Oblivion was one of the best games of this generation and the first game i buy this generation of consoles .

 

I hope the new engine is a lot better and we can make a a good looking character , bathesda character costumisation is soooo ugly lol

i hope they improve 3 person but i know elders scrools is to be played in first person.

btw skyrim is not a big part of the map, can we expect a much smaller zone O.o , just look at Cyrodiil and Morrowind and skyrim is suppose to be mountains .

That's not really indicative of anything though. Morrowind was nearly all set in the island of Vvardenfell, yet the land area was larger than the area in Oblivion, even though it's all of Cyrodill! Then there is Daggerfall (Hammerfall and High Rock) which is ridiculously and disproportionately huge!

I hope that since the engine is already sorted, they have more time to concentrate on artwork and dungeons so they can make the area bigger and have a bit more variety in architecture. I'm picturing a lot of Norse influence if Bruma and the Morrowind expansion are anything to go by.

They have improved the engine and what do you expect most of the people who post on the forums are Westeners so of course we like things more from Western culture than the weird stuff that comes out of Japanese Eastern culture.

and their engine is still .... old

Personally Oblivion wasn't worth buying, I had high hopes for it but it let me down big time. So Skyrim either need to be totally different in design or it's not getting any interest from me. Oblivion was meant to be played in first person. Just like Fallout 3/New Vegas. I am on the opposite end...I personally loved Oblivion and have played over 150 hours of the game. I hope it plays like Oblivion but uses a new game engine or an enhanced engine at least.

 I agree, I changed it to third person a few times just to try it but felt that the game was meant to be played in first person. Even if they made it play better in third person I don't think I would play it on anything but first person. I also put in over 150 hours, close to 200 I would say. 

Oblivion played great I thought but I do hope they use a new engine.

I am excited.. But I worried that it might have the same graphical engine as Fallout 3

Skyrim needs to be different and dramatically improved over Oblivion , the third person view , the animations , the graphics ( get a new engine for god sake ) ,the combat system , the ability to creat a character that isn't ugly ... everything actually .

I'll keep my eye on it for now , but I wouldn't expect much to be honest.

 EDIT : Where is " OMG OMG OMG , looks AWESOME , CAN'T WAIT " , I can't believe he isn't here yet XD .

I agree with your post. I hope for many changes compared to Oblivion.

The broken and irrelevant review system , reviewing games not for what they are but for what we wanted them to be.

Perhaps the review system makes people more critical of games. Oblivion was the 2nd game  I played this generation at a time were I barely paid attention to reviews and i thought it deserved a 95/100. Now a research games on the internet and hear about the flaws and ll it does is make me notice imperfections that  would not otherwise have cared about nor noticed.

So I agree that the system is brocken only because ratings should not affect a person's expectations as strongly as they sometimes do.

Also  still think your explantion is vague and am interested on more elaboration if you care.

I'm not really interested in it personally. I am becoming a non-supporter of Bethesda due to their lazy developing nature and for releasing games with no less than a shit ton of issues.

I am however happy for those who do enjoy this style of game and or series.
