Forums - General - FAFSA/Federal Aid Question

This will be my first time using the Federal Aid so im not sure how it works.

So I filled out the fafsa completely about a week and half ago. My registration date for class was dec 8 which ive already finished too, and I have till dec 15 the pay for them. Originally I was gonna wait for my fafsa to go through completely and have that take care of class mpayment but I heard it takes a looong time for fafsa to go through..and considering that next semester starts jan 24 they really have no reason to rush.

So my question is fafsa most likey will not be finished before the 15 so i will likely have pay for it myself which i cant do( gotta dig into my credit account :(

when the fafsa actually does go through sometime before next semester begins, will i be reimbursed or am I outta luck?

I really dont know how this sytem works and I hope i never have to use it agian after this semester

I'd discuss it with your office of financial aid. These questions can get very complicated, but you've got a couple days to sort it out

One of my scholarships normally doesn't come through until mid october for the fall semester, but in my college's case it doesn't become a problem until class registration time comes up. Then any outstanding costs for the current semester bar me from taking any administrative actions

From what i understand you applied for fafsa about 2 weeks before the payment deadline for your classes. Im not positive but sure your fafsa will not be processed before Dec15 meaning you will have to pay for them out your pocket. However, assuming you get approved, you will receive aid for your next semester/quarter and no you will not be "reimbursed" for what you paid this quarter.

You can get more in-depth information with the financial aid office in your school.

Talk to financial aid, but at my University they have several due dates and if you miss one they might give you a small charge. It seems unlikely they would demand a payment so soon before your semester actually begins. Good luck, but your probably fine.
