Gears is bigger than uncharted and ME, so no it won't be overshadowed LOL. and .. I'm willing to bet it goes in Gears favour even more in terms of who is watching the VGA's.

Could be about content. If they are releasing a lot of information about Uncharted 3, it'll overshadow a teaser trailer for Gears of War 3.

ME2 and U2 were more highly regarded critically than Gears of War 2. But then again, the original Gears was the highest scored out of the 3 original games.

It's also possible that Microsoft and Epic wanted Gears of War 3 to stand out more. You have to think, if they do an event for Gears of War 3 to show off whats new, it gets all the attention. Anything tonight will be shared with Uncharted 3, Mass Effect 3, Portal 2, Batman: Arkham City, and whatever else is shown tonight.

By what? A whopping three points on Metacritic? That kind of a statement is a stretch to say the least.

Yeah. the 100 Game of the Year awards for Uncharted 2 should be completely thrown out for last year. e.e

I can't say anything about Mass Effect 2 because most places GOTY awards haven't happened yet, but I'm sure it will rack up more than Gears of War 2.

Yeah, they should. Or maybe I missed when it beat out Gears of War 2 to win those awards.

Great comeback. How many sites gave Gears of War 2 game of the year for the year before? I'm currently looking for the data, but please, if you find it first do post.

Again, not an apples to oranges comparison when they didn't release in the same year. But feel free to go ahead and tell yourself that Uncharted 2 is objectively a better game.

Whatever makes you sleep at night.

So my main point of it being more critically acclaimed by Metacritic and Game of the Year wins means nothing because they aren't the same year? That's stupid.

I acknowledge that Gears of War is the highest selling new IP on HD consoles, which is a great feat considering it was only 2 games on 1 console (not counting PC sales even). I was pointing out the critical acclaim of Uncharted 2. Of course if you don't have a more substantial argument then you could just shut up instead of trying to make me seem like I am intentionally trolling. e.e

Edit: my mistake. I took this last paragraph out because I was confusing you with another user.

Assassin's Creed says you're wrong.

Once again the show is overhyped.  MS was smart to back away.  Ugh ...

Overhyped because of Uncharted 3, Mass Effect 3 and Elder Scroll V along with new trailers for Resistance 3 and Batman Arkham City? Yeah you may not  like the games announced there but it wasn't overhyped shit.

Yeah good one. And clearly MS didn't back away from this as  Forza 4 was announced there.

Well...I kinda knew Microsoft would have nothing. Gears was expected.

They plan to announce it later on. Make sense because it was going to be overshadowed by Uncharted 3 and Mass Effect 3.

Sucks but why would it have been overshadowed? It's a bigger IP then both of those and ones on another console entirely.

Maybe in fanfare but not in quality. Mass Effect is probably the best new IP this whole gen.

Back away from what? They made a lot of claims with the word exclusive in it.

They clearly didn't back away judging by Fora release alone.  No, I'm curious why the didn't annouce Gears.  Not that I think - as some PS3 fans probably do - that they were afraid of how it would look or because the game sucks or whatever... I'm sure they had a real reason and I'm just interested to know it.

I'm guessing that, with the glut of new stuff they wanted to keep Gears 3 for more of a lone annoucement, or want a more 360 centric slot.  Or they wanted to spread news and deciced they'd rather push Forza 4 at this time - perhaps due to the sense of mixed feelings about GT5 - rather than Gears.

Whatever, let's not pretent they decided the show wasn't a good place to announce stuff, clearly something else was behind the decision.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Dunno why, it handily outsold those two games.

Maybe because Gears 3 is current lacking more than Microsoft would like to be known when compared to both U3 and ME3.

yeah... ok fella.

it wouldnt be remotely overshadowed... and everyone knows this.

Na, it would be overshadowed by ME3 at least. I hate the Uncharted franchise so I really couldnt care less, and neither can probably most of the folks watching the VGAs. Still I want me some ME3 on PC =DD
