Every console above 500k, when was last time that happened?
At the current rate, Kinect Adventures will hit 6 mill by years end, double the 3 mill MS first estimated.

GT5 looking very good. 360/Kinect doing very well, particulary in US. Wii worldwide will win the holidays (although it sounds from the early NPD results it may slightly lose to 360 in US).
PS3 okay in and of itself but a little lower than is perhaps desirable. The console is really feeling the lack of sales in US this holiday but looks like it's going to be the leading HD console in EMEAA at this point.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Mario Kart Wii outsold New Super Mario Bros. Wii this week in EMEAA, and is up 35% year on year?
Mario Kart Wii outsold New Super Mario Bros. Wii in Japan too?
Now, granted, the difference is only 3K combined for those two areas, but still, that's mighty impressive by Mario Kart Wii. It's also just barely down year on year in Americas. 6.4% down YoY.

Many games have prooven that userbase doesn't count that much.

Halo 3 week 10 > Reach week 12... and next week Reach will sell near 207,782 (30% UP) to not lose space to Halo 3.
After Black Friday Halo 3 boosted a lot... Reach is decrecing.
Next week will be interessing.
Monster hunter is a monster, by itself it is making the PSP look very respectable in Japan.
Anyway extremely solid sales all around. Im slightly suspicious of the Wiis sales given I can't tell whether its completely based off pure data or expectation from 'Nintendo always doing well in the holidays' or a mix of both with expectation nudging the overall estimates higher.
As for the 360, well, it could have done better. Im disapointed in 360 sales this week.
PS3? Couldn't have asked for more.
DS? Well its a really good choice for a gift and there are a lot of gifts to give. This gift keeps on giving.
Tease.

True but many have also proven the opposite. I'd even say that those that have proven userbase doesn't count are more the exception than the rule. For example, despite many considering the CoD games have decreased in quality since 4, each yearly iteration (besides WaW) has ended up opening larger and selling more in the long run. This is most likely due to the expanding userbase more than anything else. And seeing as GT5 is the PS3's flagship title to this point, it'll experience long stream of market success similar to what Uncharted 2, God of War 3 and LBP have. And those didn't open as well as GT5 has. |
The COD franchise is selling so well because of increasing popularity, rather than expanding userbase. In my opinion at least.
