I know this isn't a real comparison thread, but I think Gears needs to change a little bit in the gameplay department if it wants to out stage it's predecessor. The hunch run needs to be smoothed out, they've got to fix the sticky wall problem with the cover, they've got to get rid of the whole bullet sponge thing with the enemies and I really think that the chainsaw thing and the melee really need to be changed, they really feel old now. Uncharted 2 fixed most of these problems (cover mechanics, melee, stealth, bullet sponges) and I just hope Epic follow the same path.

They have to pace the game better and change it enough, so that it actually feels like a full blown advanced sequel. I loved Gears 1, but I jumped into Gears 2 straight after and it felt like exactly the same game minus the frame rate issues. I did the same thing with Uncharted, I replayed the first before playing the sequel, but this time I was blown away by the crucial improvements they made and I ended up liking it much more than the first. Gears 2 just felt like more Gears, which is cool, but I started to get bored after a while and had to leave it for about a month (Locust Fish boss) and then went back and finished it off.

Looking forward to both games.

Not saying that your opinion is wrong but I personally found Gears 2 to be a HUGE jump in quality over Gears 1.  The set pieces, environmrnts, story (I liked it a lot), new moves/weapons and Horde mode left me satisfied.  I STILL play it from time to time.

Gears 3 will outsell Uncharted 3 comfortably.

bolded that one made me lol'ed

Out of those 3, 2 are secured for Uncharted 3, and the sales part? that one will be much closer than you think, MUCH closer than the quality and graphics comparison between the 2 I assure you! LOL. Uncharted 2 happens to be the best game this gen (not said by me alone, I trust you know THAT), and it still beats TECHNICALLY all 2010 released games (including GoWIII and ME2 with its UE3 cardboard-like graphics and animations). No UE3 can make better graphics and animation than a PS3 exclusive of the caliber of Uncharted.

Forcing your opinion onto other users isnt cool.

You can bet your ass Gears 3 and Bioshock Infinite will be using some of this.

Yeah, maybe.

But we both know that those games won't look anything like this on the 360. ^_-

I can kinda agree with the set pieces, the locust fish, the worm, the assault on the locust at the beginning and a few others were a pretty big upgrade over the much smaller set pieces in Gears 1. The environments looked slightly nicer, but it still looked way to similar to the first Gears for my liking. I didn't like the story, I knew what was going to happen to Maria ever since they showed what happened to Tai and I could never like the characters enough to actually care about what they were doing.

Gears of War 2 is a great game, but I feel that Third Person Shooters have evolved over the short time since it's release back in 2008. I enjoyed the gameplay in Uncharted 2 because it allowed me to experiment with my combat and it was really smooth and Gears feels kinda clunky in comparison (which might be understandable considering Marcus is a mini tank). I just think improvements can be made and I don't want another Crackdown 2 or Fable 3 situation. Epic haven't let me down yet and the game looks extremely promising, so I doubt that would happen.

P.S. I've never played Horde mode and I've never touched the multi-player in Gears outside of campaign co-op.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

I dunno.  I played GoW2 about a month ago and it still felt like the king of the genre......but one thing we can agree on: Guys that can play both are gonna have two mindblowing games to play in the near future.  BTW, pick up the newest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly!  GoW3 is on the cover.  After reading that article, I think your fears of a Crackdown 2/Fable 3 will be destroyed!
