I can kinda agree with the set pieces, the locust fish, the worm, the assault on the locust at the beginning and a few others were a pretty big upgrade over the much smaller set pieces in Gears 1. The environments looked slightly nicer, but it still looked way to similar to the first Gears for my liking. I didn't like the story, I knew what was going to happen to Maria ever since they showed what happened to Tai and I could never like the characters enough to actually care about what they were doing. Gears of War 2 is a great game, but I feel that Third Person Shooters have evolved over the short time since it's release back in 2008. I enjoyed the gameplay in Uncharted 2 because it allowed me to experiment with my combat and it was really smooth and Gears feels kinda clunky in comparison (which might be understandable considering Marcus is a mini tank). I just think improvements can be made and I don't want another Crackdown 2 or Fable 3 situation. Epic haven't let me down yet and the game looks extremely promising, so I doubt that would happen. P.S. I've never played Horde mode and I've never touched the multi-player in Gears outside of campaign co-op. |
I dunno. I played GoW2 about a month ago and it still felt like the king of the genre......but one thing we can agree on: Guys that can play both are gonna have two mindblowing games to play in the near future. BTW, pick up the newest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly! GoW3 is on the cover. After reading that article, I think your fears of a Crackdown 2/Fable 3 will be destroyed!
