As someone who was born Muslim, I'm what people would call a super-atheist. I stand directly in opposition to all major religions (especially christianity, judaism and islam). And why wouldn't I? If I were born in Ancient Egypt I would believe in Aphrodite. If I were in Ancient Greece, I'd believe in Zeus. Every single person in this thread is an athiest to the ancient gods. I feel the exact same way about modern religions. The only reason people believe or follow them is becuase they were born into them, or are surrounded by them. These religions will undoubtably become obsolete as we advance our knowledge of the cosmos. In a few centuries, or possibly millenia, these religions will be viewed the same way as the ancienct religions.
I side with science. I only make claims about things I can scientifically defend. I answer most metaphysical questions with a simple "we don't know". I'm not out to prove that god doesn't exist. But I sure as fuck will never believe in him unless there is some form of empirical evidence.
I've watched, and been a part of several lectures on the big bang and creationism. Here's a couple, check em out. The first one is over an hour long, but it is one of the greatest and most informative lectures I've seen in a while.:
