Forums - Microsoft - Sold a Kinect on Amazon yesterday..lasted less than 1 hour

So I had ordered 2 pre-launch. 1 for us and 1 for my sister for Christmas. Well she bought one for herself.  So I had an extra and I could simply have returned it.  Really busy right now so yesterday I thought hey why not try selling it on Amazon or eBay. I have never sold something on Amazon or eBay before.  Amazon was far easier to get started so I put it there first for $210 which was the low.  I had no seller reputation and really was mostly interested is minimizing the return hassle.  Put it up and then headed out to pick up supplies for this weekend.  Less than 1 hour later I get an email on my phone that it was sold.  So the demand for Kinect is still strong and after the additional costs above the $150 retail I paid I ended up making about $30 (Amazon fee, tax and shipping from original purchase, shipping to buyer).



Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Holiday sales online are crazy. I sold a $40 game stop exclusive new game that could easily be found for $80 within minutes on Amazon (F1 2009). I would almost guess that people will pay exorbitant prices online near the holidays just so they don't have to drive out in traffic.

However, good job on pocketing some $ instead of returning it.




If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Wow, this is crazy. Today they restocked it, it jumped to second place and is already sold out. They restocked also 4Gb bundles and it jumped already to 20th position. Wonder when it will sell out again.

Wow that is truly impressive...I haven't been to any of my local stores to see how KINECT is selling so maybe I should do that soon.  If I can't find KINECT then I will be very impressed.
