Forums - Sales - Mario Kart Wii on track for 25 million 2010, best selling all time?

MW2 hit 20 Million units sold in June or July of this year with PC sales included. Although there was a bundle for it with the 360 when it released, so it doesn't count. Black Ops will probably beat MW2, and there wasn't an official Black Ops bundle neither.

Black Ops could end up with something like 25 Million plus non-bundled sales.

Mario Kart Wii hit 23 Million before the bundle was introduced. Doesn't really matter if it's in one country... An official bundle is a bundle.

I'm not sure I understand why you are bothering to make the distinction of "bundled games don't count!", but not the distinction of "this bundle will only account for X sales of this game!" Why draw the line there?

Eh guys MW2 sold more than Nintendogs and probably Mario Kart Wii. And it was never bundled. Amazing.

MW2 in point of fact is several million behind MKWii, which itself may sell another 5 million after this year is over. Mario Kart Wii is bundled in - what is it, one country?

So by your logics, a game that will end up selling around 30 million units, with let's even say 500 000 bundles sold, shoudn't be in any top selling games list? So if I understand correctly MKWii is from now un disqualified and therefore gt5 sold more units than MKWii because hey...it's not bundled.

Think for yourself, question authority

Black Ops did have an official bundle.... In the UK and South Africa.

Oh, I'm sorry Carl, I forgot the purpose of this topic. I apologize for my misunderstanding; I did not mean to come across as snippy.

Pokemon was undoubtedly bundled somewhere, at some point.

Has Wii Play ever been bundled with a Wii?

Pah, it's still bundled, with the little white steering wheel thing, so it still doesn't count!

Yeah but these kinds of bundles doesn't count! They are limited and people buy them for the game.

The concept of eliminating games for having had some slight hardware bundles is ridiculous. Practically all major games have had that, so you'd really have to eliminate the entire top 10, if not more.

You're taking the concept of "best selling non-bundled game" far too serious. The point of such a title is, or at least was originally on here, and should be, to eliminate Super Mario Bros and Wii Sports. No non-bundled game is going to beat Wii Sports in the next 20 years or so. I generally also like to eliminate Wii Play from the lists, but that's more up for discussion.

I can't help but feel that if you decide to eliminate all Mario Kart Wii sales post 23 million, but not the Call of Duties, you're just spinning the numbers into making the game you like "win".

MKWii is my most played game this gen and I have to say that seeing it be the sales juggernaut is really nice.

On that note, I'm tired for people saying that games being bundled with home consoles and handhelds don't count.  It's  like saying digital book sales don't count if they're included in respective E-readers/Kindles/etc.

EDIT: Point, this is an entertainment industry and more often than not, people buy bundles for the game and not the hardware to play it on.

Pixel Art can be fun.

It's ok Boutros, no one will remember this ever happened.

Yeah but costumers have a choice to either buy the regular wii, the bundled Wii with Wii Sports Resorts, NSMB (from this holiday), and bundled Wii MKwii (starting around this week). So it doesn't matter if it is bundled or not because consumers will buy a bundle with a game they like. MW2 had a bundle, GT4 had a bundle.......almost every hot selling game has been bundled. PS3 and XBox360 have all had software bundled with their system.
