Monster Hunter Tri. Not really close for me either.

I doubt you ever played it. I hate the fact that God of War is one of those games that are "cool to hate"... Theres a lot of hate on the franchise, with nonsensical reasons (button masher ???? yes...but only if you want it to be.. you can pull off insane combos for more red orbs or button mash...your choice)..

God of War has always been about  "revenge story" or whatever...but fact is, even though the standard is really low...its hell of a lot of better than stories in DMC and Bayonetta, and most other slashers.

The ending made perfect sense to me....there were some complainers.... but

By doing what he did, he released the power of hope to the world, which would eventually get rid of the chaos he had caused...he didn't do it for no reason.

Also, if he lived, he would have to give the power of hope to Athena...the Olympians were powerless, and he had made sure that they won't be able to do what they did to him to anyone else. 

But I do agree though...the story could've been better.

Super Mario Galaxy 2. It's my favorite game of the year, but it doesn't deserve to be the third highest rated game of all time.

Red Dead Redemption and Mass Effect 2 are also quite overrated. (Which are my third and fourth favorite games of the year, respectively.)

I can't decide: Black Ops or Halo Reach.

Seems some people here fail to realise the difference between 'over-rated' and 'disappointing'. One concerns how the game was rated by others, and how you think the game aligns to those reviews. The other refers to your personal expectations. For example, I don't feel ModNation Racers was over-rated in the slightest, but I was disappointed with it.

I've been a bit picky with game purchases this year so it's hard to say anything has really disappointed, but if I had to pick something that isn't a DL title, then it would be Sports Champions. It's a bit too sterile and charmless to enjoy it as much as I might.

As for overrated, I can't pick anything.

I loved Reach but it's a lillte overrated because I loved Halo 3 more.

The ending sure ruined a lot for the game.

I was particularly annoyed by Athena's sub-plot/conspiracy

Ok, GoW III was also very over-rated in my opinion.

I am not a fan of the genre though I like it a lot. But in my opinion, its graphics, its story and its gameplay are not as good as fanboys tend to say they are.
