Forums - Gaming - Sony: "Move Starwars game would be damn better than Starwars Kinect

Sony America R&D chap Anton Mikhailov has tossed fresh mud in the direction of rival Microsoft over its planned Star Wars Kinect title, claiming “there’s no way” the tech could ever deliver a robust lightsaber experience.

The engineer didn’t mince his words during a chinwag with the chaps at Eurogamer this week, stating a PlayStation Move-compatible Star Wars romp would be far superior to Kinect’s planned Christmas 2011 title.

“I’m usually not very aggressive, but I will say it’ll [Move's Star Wars game] be damn better than Kinect could ever do,” he commented.

“There’s no way Kinect can do a good lightsaber game. Just never. Unless they give you a stick. If they give you a stick then they can do OK, but then they’re going to ruin their whole no controller motto.”

“I’ve seen the demo but it’s so scripted, and wasn’t it like, faked?”

So do you agree that Move would be better suited to a Starwars game or is this guys kidding himself.

People dreamed of a motion controlled light saber game ever since the Wiimote was unveiled, because it would have been a perfect fit. That Sony dude is right, although there certainly is a way to make such a statement in a more polite manner than he did.

This.

He is right, but he definitely could have been less rude though. I hope Sony doesn't develop their own version of Greenburg.

So... a Sony person says a game would be better on a Sony platform than a non-Sony platform?

I hope this isn't news...

He's obviously right. But I think the Kinect version will actually really ship with some silly plastic lightsaber stick. Using a stick will be the only possibility to make the Kinect version somewhat accurate, and it might even act as a kind of additional "copy protection".

Wow, I think this guy just won the Douche of the Year award. Congrats!

Yeah because nobody can copy a stick!

No, because they could design a lightsaber stick that only few people would try to replicate instead of buying the game. It doesn't have to be impossible to copy in order to be a good copy protection.

they can also use the stick to push a hoop

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
