Internet tricked by fake GT5P score
Story By Mark Podd
Glowing Famitsu score proves to be false
Reports that Japanese games magazine Famitsu has given Gran Turismo 5: Prologue a near-perfect score have proven to be false.

News broke yesterday that Weekly Famitsu had given GT5: Prologue – which is due to be released in its native Japan tomorrow – a highly impressive score of 39/40.

However, it now seems these claims were actually a load of porky pies, with Famitsu itself having not reviewed the game at all.

The source of the score appears to be an individual who wished to fool users on the popular NeoGAF forums by making up a load of review scores and news and trying to claim that it was the contents of this week’s issue of Famitsu.

As is the way with such things, however, the rest of the internet got hold of the story and ran with it before checking whether it was accurate or not. And as it transpired, it wasn’t.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that Polyphony’s racer isn’t going to be amazing – just that we’ll all have to wait a little longer to find out how good it really is.

In the meantime, one of NeoGAF's forum users has posted a separate thread with the actual contents of this week’s Famitsu, which you can check out here.

no kidding this is what the 10th time people on Neogaf have lied.

Always about scores, releases and previews.

And the internet always bites, specifically N4G, it pissed me off when they put the 9 8 8 8 score up for Lo when it actually got a 37/40

Now this fantastic!

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Proud supporter of all 3 console companys

Proud owner of 360wii and DS/psp

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

O and when N4G posted a bioshock confirmationf or ps3 from a blog of some random person...........LOL

this is why I never go to neogaf. Attention whore bastards.

It wasn't Gaf fooling people. It was them getting fooled by a bunch of Japanese pranksters from 2chan. Spreading false info is a big screw-up, but not as detestable as starting it in the first place.

That means the score supposedly given to Nights is fake too, right? Can't remember if we got it with the latest batch or earlier...
