I have no idea what is wrong with some of you. You either need a better TV or actually play the game or something.. Its ridiculous reading some comments posted in here. when facts hits you in the face you still deny it.

Facts? Like direct captures from the game itself.

I think it was someone here who said that the levels look like they were worked on by different teams. I think thats true, or some of the older courses were just straight ports from the PS2 GTs.

That would indded explain the game's uneven graphics. Does any one have a link about this ?

Like I said before, thats not an HD screen capture. Thats an SD screen capture thats been upscaled with quality degraded. You can obviously see it in the UI on the bottom left of the screen, and in the mini-map on the top left. I've already put 10 hours into GT5 and haven't seen ANYTHING that looks remotely as bad as others have been claiming. People are turning this into a fanboy war to try and downplay GT5. If you don't believe me, look at all of the user reviews on Metacritic where people are rating it a 0 and giving the comment/review of "GO BUY FORZA". The game looks as good as promised.... My Standard 3000GT VR-4 doesn't look any less detailed in-game than my Premium Civic Type R. The textures don't look ANY worse than Prologue, and in most cases better.

People can't seem to give games fair reviews anymore, they turn it into a fanboy war. Is the game as good visually as promised? Yes it is. Is there still a ton of things that are lacking? Yes, I could give you a list of things I hope get patched because they are a disappointment... but for the time being the game is every bit as good visually as I expected it to be.

Thats gotta be a stretched image from a standard definition screen capture. That image looks NOTHING like what I've been seeing at 1080P. Sorry, but I'm just not buying it. Any hater can take a screen capture at 480P and stretch it up to 720P or 1080P where it degrades quality even further and pass it off as a direct HD screen capture.

Road textures and grass textures aren't 100% perfect, but they sure don't look like THAT. Thats GT2-esque, and you won't be seeing any of that in GT5.

On my 55" Sony LED-LCD 240hz /w custom music running, I HONESTLY couldn't ask for a better racing experience... and thats coming from someone who extensively enjoyed Forza 3 while I was waiting for this game.

Its from jeuxvideo, which is pretty much the french IGN. They are using direct captures from the 1080p mode. But feel free to argue that they're somehow tampering with the image. Maybe you should race on deep forest first.

Considering that the resolution of the image itself is only 1215x683, I'd be safe to say that its not an HD screen capture.

LOL now that i see it closely, you can clearly see the pixelated UI...i HARDLY believe this screenshot it's real.

Goddamn.

Its an HD capture. And even if it was an SD capture thats been upscaled, it wouldn't magically make the level geometry look that simple, or the textures look that low resolution. Although the textures might look that blurry because the game apparently has a problem streaming textures.

Checklist for graphics threads...

1) Played the game? No.

Ops... not aproved in first item... so no comments because I and the opener didn't play the game yet.

Kowenicki is right. Some parts of the game just look outstanding (London, Tokyo) but then again, there are quite a few parts where the game looks pretty bad, dare I say worser than Forza. Some tracks are a bit bland and but some are really good. However, car models look preety damn awesome but I haven't tries any non-premium cars so I'm hoping they don't disappoint in that aspect.

Fortunately, the physics are great, same with the races and licences aswell as the new features. The second-hand dealership makes a comback which is sweet as is photo mode. Kart racing is also surprisingly fun.

Those are about the only things I've tried though; while the graphics ARE disappointing, the rest is great. I've played the game for about 5 hours so I know what I'm talking about.

Btw, the trees...don't even go there.

Do the graphics look worse than GT5 Prologue at times?

Yes, at certain points (but only few and far between)

The game is still awesome, and imo the best simulator this gen by some distance. Will definitely go down in my top 5 favourite games this gen.

which other sims have you owned?

I've played Forza 3 many times and the physics are better in GT5. It's just the graphics that are really dissappointing where Forza beats it in some areas.

If your'e going to pull out a PC sim, the I already know, GT5 probably is outclassed by them but I guess that slipped out of my mind because I don't play PC games.

I did... a lot..

you?

In bold.

So no comments yet... I will buy it in December (or January) because Sony Brazil promised a PT-BR version.

Seems like I'm only ever noticed when a) I'm commenting on Carl's gif or b) in my Old Spice character. Well... I suppose that's better than where I was 2 months ago without either of those.

I've sadly yet to get the game, so it's too early to judge for me... doesn't look too pleasant, though.
