There is no score

========================

All this demonstrates Polyphony’s time since Gran Turismo 4 has, on the whole, been well spent.  There’s a massive amount to see and do, some features we’ve not seen before (the mid-race day/night transitions are beautiful) and the insane amount of detail on the Premium cars will ensure that the game’s Photo Mode will find favour with photography enthusiasts just as much as it would with motorsport fans – GT5 is capable of some amazing looking real-time shots, some of which are dotted about this article and are untouched, straight from the game.

So, gran Turismo 5: finished, complete, perfect.  Right?

No, not quite, but it’s pretty damned near close.  Gran Turismo 5 is essential gaming for race sim fans, something that will grow with you the more you play.  Sure, there’s some visual issues here and there and the game’s UI is fussier than it needs to be, but as a racing game, which is presumably the reason everyone’s buying the game for, it’s unmatched, unrivalled and as comprehensive as you could have ever hoped for.  It’s unfair to score the game at this point, though, we’re barely a quarter of the way through A-Spec and less through B and it has continued to get better every step of the way.

But it doesn’t matter anyway – just go and buy it.

Yes they do but read this quote

"It’s unfair to score the game at this point, though, we’re barely a quarter of the way through A-Spec and less through B and it has continued to get better every step of the way."

They've only played for 4 days or so and the Online was unlocked  a day ago so that's why they find it unfair to give a score as of right now.

thats good,GAMESPOT is doing the same

they too said GT5 tooks its time and they will take their own time and only come out with a review when they have thoroughly played it

i don't know why IGN isn't reviewing it

they took IGN UK's score and put it up

I want Greg Miller to review it

Seems like they'll do a review with a score a little later on once they've got most of the way through the game. That smacks a little of integrity, so they have no business being game reviewers.

Says who?  That just sounds like... this review is positive therefore its accurate.

You cant pick and choose and really it doesnt matter that some reviews are lower than expected.  Just get the game and be happy.

There is no conspiracy, its all becoming a bit paranoid.

Yes, there are. A lot of reviews without online mode and just some hours of play? Sorry but the actual review system is broken... not for GT5 but for all game on the market.

IMO.

They haven't been slammed once for their reviews.

No I did not deliberately post this review here because it's generally positive and therefore must be a good review. I've been following TSA for a long time now and their reviews have always been accurate when it comes to desricbing what aspects of the game does work and doesn't work and you probably won't believe it unless you've read a good number of their reviews. Unbiased and accurate as ever. I noticed that not many here at VGC follow TSA like me so when I say they're creditable, it may sound doubtful but there isn't a reason to doubt me. I wouldn't go about trying to damage control by posting a good review or try to defend GT5 to extreme.

I posted this to let people know that attaching a score to a review doesn't mean shit and that you should read them and see what is great about the game and what isn't. I read reviews to see how the game is and just to see what those people loved and didn't like about that game and to see whether I could see/experience the same as well.

And please don't thinkg that I'm butthurt or paranoid about 8s and 8.5s because for all I care I'm gonna enjoy GT5 regardless of what score is given. I've been saying this for a long time now and so has others. Reviews aren't going to change my plans of getting GT5 this weekend.

Great read, thanks for the link. As a sim fan with a Fanatec wheel, i'm pretty sure i'm gonna be in heaven with this game.

So how is this a conspiracy and what is the aim of this conspiracy?

Just a hint... some reviews give GT5:P a better score than GT5.

They throw high scores around... Forza 3:   10/10

It's not a conspiracy but the state of video game journalism can be considerred a joke at best. For an industry that's trying to grow out of the sterotypes of society, the industry journalists are doing a piss poor job. The early reviews (both good and bad) obviously haven't had a significant amount of time to test all the features appropriately, especially when the online mode was only recently unlocked. It destroys credibility.

When a film is reviewed you expect the reviewer to watch the entirety of the film before passing judgement. This may not be possible with games, but they need to test all the features of a game for a significant amount of time.

GT5 isn't the only game to suffer from this. I've read dev complaints about reviews that didn't even touch on co-op & multiplayer modes and one review for FFVII: Crisis core that was included in metacritic played the game for barely more than an hour and with no sound before passing judgement.
