Forums - Gaming - Have you reached your game buying limit for a system this generation?

I dont really have a game buying limit per say but I have diffently spent more than I ever planned on my Wii. Just in the past month or so I have gotten NBA Jam, GoldenEye, Kirbys Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Call of Duty, Sonic colors, in 8 days Epic Mickey, then 12 more till Super Mario All Stars. NOt to mention all the other games I have gotten this year too. Im actually hopeing Wii to have a bit of a dry spell soon. But i know Marios Sports Mix and Zelda come out sometime towards the begining of the year least I think.

many games on the ps3 which i bought but didnt finish. disapointing, i buy lots of useless games, so im trieng to become a smart gamer.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

My limit is reached in the sense that there aren't enough new interesting games released, so then I go look at games I missed. Though that is reaching it's limit too on PS3 and PSP

Last game I bought was in January. Money's been tight, and just got tighter. What is this gaming budget you speak of? ;)

Here's where I am--and I do love all of my consoles:

DS:  I haven't bought a new game for myself in ages.  I have five of them but it was the first casualty.  I have no interest in the console.  I couldn't be more hyped for the 3DS but I don't think I will buy another DS game, ever again.  My kid keeps the system smoking with games like Cake Mania, Cooking Mama, and Kirby but for me, the DS is dead.  The PSP took over for me about two years ago.

PSP:  My portable console of choice.....but since I got my smartphone, I can go weeks without touching it.  I still buy games for it (probably gonna get Crimson Gem Saga for it, today) but I can't ever find the time to finish the games I buy.  There's nothing on the horizon that appeals to me.  I think I'll just play what I have or buy good games when they are really cheap.

Wii:  Damn, I love Nintendo.  I really do.  But my Wii hasn't been touched since Metroid:  Other M.  I loved the game.  When I buy a Wii game, I usually end up loving it--but getting me to buy a Wii game is like pulling teeth.  They win me over with their gameplay instead of their flash.  That's the way it's supposed to be but I really hope for some new hardware that will make the games look as good as they play.  I plan to buy Kirby and Donkey Kong--maybe before the end of the year.....but I don't feel any urgency in the purchase.

PS3:  If you see me online with my PS3, I'm either watching Netflix, searching the PSN for bargains, or watching porn.  I don't really game on it.  I mostly use it for exclusives but the problem is, from the critically acclaimed exclusives, hardly any of them actually appeal to me.  Ratchet and Clank, Killzone, Resistance, Gran Turismo, MAG, etc......*yawn*.  I love me some Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Valkyria Chronicles, Heavy Rain and LBP (though I don't really want the sequel, yet). But I own these games.  I've seen what they have to offer.  I need something new to make me dust off my PS3.

Xbox 360:  My console of choice for multiplats.  There are a few exclusives that I like, too.  Problem is, if I stopped buying games right now, I probably have enough games to keep me occupied for the next few years.  I like a few of the first party games/exclusives (Gears, Fable, Alan Wake), but like the PS1 and the PS2, this is essentially a third party system for me.  I buy mult-plats for the console.  In fact, I think I could sell every game I own, just play Super Street Fighter 4, and be a happy gamer.  But if I ever get hyped for a game, chances are pretty good that I'm buying it for the 360.

Man, that was depressing.

Best way to make sure you dont buy games your just so so about is to stay away from game sites.

Yeah, my Steam library is getting really big.

Pffft. I have not yet begun to buy games this generation!

I havenot reached my limit this generation.

I only own a PS3. I have a few games, and there many more I wish I ahd the money to buy

I have given up on being a trophy whore though.

I have no more patience to play bad to average game just for the trophies.

Now, I only play agames Im really looking forward to and I still come up short in cash for them

PS - PSN games are awesome too. They are cheaper to get, so I have a bunch.

PS2 - The whole online experience with the PS3 is awesome though. I mentioned PSN games, but playing online is awesomer and doesnt get tedious.
